Sour Cream Birthday Bash

I wanted to give my friend her birthday present in a unique way, so I made this "sour cream container" to put her present in.  :)  What fun!

It's made from a single piece of Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper, Sticky Tape and a Crimper.  ;)  Isn't the paper perfect for a birthday wrap?  I thought so.

I'm thinking about filming a video when I stop coughing and sneezing.  What do you think?  Do you want to learn how to make one of these containers?

Happy Birthday, Louise (Mojo Monday 234)

Yesterday was my dear friend, Louise's birthday.   Louise is such a kind and giving person.  She works hard for our church and her family.  We often get together to scrapbook while our boys play airsoft, go swimming, work on models, build Legos or play games.    She has made me feel more "at home" here in Washington than she could ever know.  I appreciate her and her friendship.  Here is the card I made to celebrate her.  :)

Having 2 boys, I know she will enjoy this soft, "girly" card.   (at least I hope she will)

The most difficult part of this card was deciding which bow to use.  The Concord Crush looked really good too, but I went with the more feminine look.

My inspiration for the card came from this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

To finish off the inside I stamped the Happy Birthday image in Wisteria Wonder, then I took another piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped it in Concord Crush and used a circle punch to just punch out the center "Birthday".  I adhered it using Snail Adhesive.  It's hard to see in the picture, but the little bit of contrast is nice.

I hope she likes it and that it makes her feel special.  :)

Checking In

Hello My Creative Friends!

Just wanted to take a couple of minutes and check in with you.  I have some really cute cards to share with you and videos to make.   Last weekend was a gorgeous sunny day here in Southwest Washington.  Saturday was spent at the ballpark with my son's first practice game of the season.  Sunday my dear husband took me to the ocean.

We drove with the top down and I soaked up the rays of sun and breathed in the fresh air.  Perhaps I breathed in a little too much fresh air because my allergies are INFLAMED!  My nose and throat are raw, I been sneezing, my nose and eyes are watery.  WAH!!!  Basically I just haven't felt well.

Hopefully with a little more Claritan and a good night's rest I will feel better by tomorrow.  For now I  need to go wash the dog, get ready to go to my son's parent teacher conference, pick up something for dinner, take the dog to the vet, drop off son at baseball practice and go to work.  No sick days for a mom, right?  It's going to be a long day.  Hope my nose stops running soon.  :)

Creative Blessings,
Heather

12 Months of Christmas 2-25-12

My 12 months of Christmas continues.  In case you are new to my blog, each month on the 25th I post the Christmas cards I made the previous month.  I figure if I make 4-10 cards each month on (or near) the 25th, then by the time December rolls around I will be well on my way to having a handmade Christmas card to send to each person on my Christmas list.

My plan is to film videos on most of these cards and show them to you in late Novemeber and early December so you can make them too.  If you want to get a head start on your Christmas cardmaking, feel free to draw some inspiration from my blog.  :)

Here is February's card. As you can hopefully see it uses a Z-fold.

It was hard to decide which colors to use, so I experimented with a couple.  Each card is a little different, but that is the beauty of handmade creations.

Here is the card open.

Whisper White as the base.

Another view of this interesting fold. Sorry about the glare, we actually had SUN when I took these pictures.  :)  A rare thing in the Pacific Northwest.

For my Cherry Cobbler card bases I added a journal panel so I could write a message

It will be so much easier to film a video than to type out how to make this card, so I think I will.  Think outside the box, and I'm sure you can find a stamp set in your stash to use for this fun Z-Fold card.

Card Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Christmas Lodge, Come to Bethlehem
Paper: Cherry Cobbler Textured Cardstock, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper
Misc. Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Early Espresso Bakers Twine, Simply Scored Tool

Good Luck

I had so much fun with the card I made on Thursday that I decided to try a few more colors, add some ribbon and change the sentiment.  Here are the 3 cards I came up with.

Blushing Bride

Pear Pizzaz

Concord Crush

Did you know that these In-Colors will be retiring when the new catalog comes out this summer?  I figured they would be the "new" colors for a couple of years and then be grafted into the core colors, but I was wrong.  :)  That's okay though, I just bought some re-inkers in case my ink pads ever dry out, and I'm excited to see what new "In-Colors" Stampin' UP will come out with next.
