Prayers & Hugs

Do you know someone battling cancer right now?  This card is relatively easy to make.  I drew a loopy ribbon with my zig markers and then sprayed it with water.    After it dried I die cut the prayers.  I then layered it with another prayers die cut out of black and inlaid it back into the original piece.  The splatters come from some black Nuvo I added to a clear block then used a wet brush to flick onto my card.

Of course I had to die cut my panel with the wonky stitched rectangles die.  I've been doing that with all my cards lately because I just love that detail.

Purple Ribbon CAS16

Purple Ribbon is used for several different things including Pancreatic Cancer, Alzeheimers, Lupus, Chron's and more.  The ribbon and love were both die cut from paper that I sponged with purple ink and spritzed with water.  The little hearts come from the 2 Yous Fri-dies.

You could change the color of your ribbon to create this card for someone you love.  Below are just some of the ribbons and what they represent.  I'm thinking of doing this card in yellow for a friend whose husband is deployed.

Stitched Ribbon Banner for Stampin' Celebration

The colors in the new inspiration photo for the Stampin' Celebration Challenge are so bright and colorful.

SC104

They truly are happy colors and I wanted to capture that in my card.  To make my card I added Fast Fuse to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  Next I added strips of ribbon, on an angle, to the Fast Fuse and cut it out using my Big Shot with one of the Banner Framelits Dies.

To stitch it all together I took my panel to my sewing machine and played with one of my new decorative stitches.

Sidenote- my new sewing machine allows me to change both the length and the width separately.  I had fun playing with the different settings on just this one stitch.   Just imagine what fun I will have when I finally get the time to take the classes offered for my machine.  :)

Color Me Happy ~ StampNation Blog Hop

When I was a little girl the first thing I played with on Christmas morning was my new coloring book and box of crayons.  As an adult I still love coloring images.  Last Christmas I treated myself to a small collection of Copics and have been adding a few more each month.  Copics do come with a learning curve though and that's why I'm so excited about today's announcement!!!

We are introducing a new teacher to our StampNation Classroom, Kristy Dalman from Some Odd Girl.  She will be doing exclusive coloring and Copic tutorials for our members and we couldn't be more excited!!!!

To kick things off Kristy will be bringing us a new lesson every Friday for the next 5 weeks.   After that she will bring us an exclusive lesson on the last Friday of the month.  (As if Fridays needed to get any better!)

The first five lessons will cover:
1. Intro to the markers (types, nibs, etc)
2. Color system
3. Smooth Coloring
4. Blending, 3 Color Basic Blend
5. Shading Basics

If you haven't yet joined StampNation, what are you waiting for?  :)  Click HERE to learn all about it.

To welcome Kristy with a BANG the StampNation design team is doing a blog hop with cards we each made using Some Odd Girl stamps/digis.  Here is my card using Everyday Smiles clear stamp set and Guitar Kody digital stamp.

Be sure to hop along to everyone else to see what they have created and leave a comment on each blog for your chance to win...

PRIZES!!!!

We've hidden two 1-month subscriptions to StampNation along the hop...comment on each design team members blogs in the hop to enter to win.  Two winners will be announced on Monday, March 31.

The design team is also using SOG stamps in our StampNation challenge this week.  Here's a peek at my card.

StampNation members that participate in the challenge this week will have the chance to win their choice of one Some Odd Girl (SOG) stamp set or 3 digis!!!!  (You do not need to use SOG products to win, but if you have them we would love to see them.)  Winner will be announced on April 9th.

Banner Christmas Joy

Is there someone on your list that has everything?  Are you struggling to find the perfect gift for her?  Perhaps today's project idea will help you.  :)

Each pennant has a flower and a letter.  You could put anything on these pennants.  It would be darling to hang little ornaments instead of triangles, or use snowflakes in place of the medallions.

There are so many possibilities once you start creating.

My poor neglected Cricut got a bit of a workout the past few weeks.  I used it to cut out the letters and pennants.  You don't need a Cricut to make this though.  In the video I give you more ideas of other things you can use.

Note: You may need to go to my blog post to see the video above if you are not there now.  :)

Doesn't it look perfect hanging from the shelf in my home?  That is why I had to make another one.  It will probably hang all year long because Joy never goes out of season.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

We Honor Our Veterans

Thank you Veterans for all you have done to protect and serve our nation.  You are not forgotten!  Our family is forever grateful to you for your service.

Many of my friends and family have served and many more I will never know have sacrificed for the United States of America.  In honor of our nation's veterans and active duty military I have made this card to be sent to a hero through Operation Write Home.

My plan when I made this card this morning was to use the thank you sentiment from Perfectly Penned and some stars.  I remembered the Hero Arts stamp set I bought had stars in it, so I went looking for it.   I pulled it out and saw this sentiment, "I thank my lucky stars for you!", and I knew it would be perfect on my card!

Hopefully you were able to take some time this weekend or today to thank a veteran, but it doesn't have to be reserved for Veteran's Day weekend.  It's always a good time to let someone know we are grateful for what they have done for us.

Veteran who spoke at RMS assembly last Friday.  He is the grandfather to one of the students at RMS.  I could have listened to him all day.

My favorite part of the assembly each year.  The band plays a medley of each branch of the armed forces songs.  As each branch is played the veterans who served in that branch stand and everyone applauds them.  It bring tears to my ears and goosebumps to my arms every time.  This year my son is in 8th grade so he played the music.  Priceless moment for this proud mama.

Caught another veteran while photographing this wall.  Students colored medals and wrote names along with thanks to veterans they know.

Michael looking for the one he made for his grandpa.  <3
So precious.  I love that my son's schools take the time to teach the importance of honoring our nation's heroes.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North
