Birthday Blessings

Scott got his birthday gift early this year, so I wanted to make a card that reminded him of his special gift.  (as if he could forget)

The picture is simply mounted on red cardstock and put on a black card base.  I used Black Staz-On ink to stamp the sentiment, then wrapped on a tuxedo bow made out of ribbon.

Super simple reminder of the best present he ever received!

Remember... I Love You

This is one of the fun things I made at Cindy's craft day last weekend.  If you are ever in the Centralia, WA area be sure to stop by Cindy's Simple Stuff.  It's a small shop, but filled with goodies in every nook and cranny.  Tuesday's are the best because she has her dollar demo all day.  She is one talented lady!  (and no, I'm not being paid to endorse her, but I wouldn't mind having some store credit.  LOL)

Here is my "chalkboard" inspired by Cindy's talent.

Basically the grunge board is sandwiched between 2 pieces of paper.  (Printed paper on front, solid color cardstock on the back.)  The "chalkboard paper" was cut out using a die cut machine, and simply adhered to the patterned paper with glue.  (I used my Zip Dry glue.  Love that stuff for adhering paper to almost anything!)   The pencil is staying on the board with the help of a little velcro.  To hang it, she had us adhere one of those clear tags stores use to hang product, in between the grunge board and cardstock.  I think I would use a crop-a-dile, punch out holes on the top, and tie some ribbon through it to make a hanger.  In fact, I may yet do that.   :)

Egg-cellent Thanks

Our neighbors took up a new hobby last spring, raising chickens, and now that they are laying more eggs than my neighbors can consume we get to share in their bounty.  :)   (Not to mention the noise they make when one of the hens is laying in the other hen's favorite spot.  I seriously thought one of their hens was having some issues, but they assure me she just doesn't like to wait for "her spot" to roost.   Sounds like they are siblings to me.  LOL)

They've been giving us eggs a dozen or more at a time, which is nice with 2 growing boys & lots of overnight guests.   So, when I saw the Beau Chateau paper from SU I knew I had to get it to make a thank you card for Doug and Lavonne.  (That and a plate of brownies to go with it)  One of our other neighbors got chicks not too long ago, so it looks like I won't be buying eggs any time soon.  I will instead be making cute thank you cards, cookies, cakes, and quiche.

P.S.  Got any good egg recipes you want to share?

Thank You Mrs. DeLaurier

I found these pictures on my computer from last June.  Michael's 5th grade teacher was wonderful and we wanted to give her an extra special little thank you at the end of the year.  Most elements used are SU!, but some are from my stash, purchased at the Local Scrapbook/Stamper Store (LSS).

Michael did most of the decorating for his teacher's back.  He used several different thank you stamps  and inked them up with  Early Espresso ink.  I had some decorative label punches leftover from my candy project, so he added dimensionals to the back and stuck them on her bag.

Here is the card, Candy Slider, and candy purse.  All elements used SU! colors: Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, and Whisper White.  Stamp sets used are Bliss and Thank You (from LSS).  For embellishments I used an Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Linen Thread (to tie on the little key trinket onto the card), brads, and dimentionals.  I also used the decorative label punch and a CM flower punch.

The idea for the candy purse came from  Angie Kennedy Juda's chicnscratch website.   I changed the dimensions to fit the candy I had.  On the inside of the card I matted the white cardstock with some early espresso and again stamped a butterfly from the Bliss stamp set.  Can you see the little bling I put on him/her?

Do you see that sweet treat?  I saved the best for last... it's a double slider, and when you pull on each end a candy bar slides out.  I used 3 different videos for inspiration and ended up making up the dimensions for this one on my own.  If I ever film a video of my craft making I'll have to make one of these.  :)

Elegant Thanks

To make this special card "holder" I ran a sealed A2 envelope through my Cuttlebug with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  Then I cut about 1/2" off one of the sides so I could slip a card into it.  Using CM's paper ribbon I made a belly band and added the scallop ovals with some foam tape to make it POP.

I repeated the look of the belly band on the card and embossed the background with the same embossing folder.

This was a fairly easy card to make, but I think it turned out very elegant with a touch of Spring.

Our local stamping store owner, Cindy, asked her customers to make a tag with their contact info so she could send us newsletters and information.  She offered a discount too.  I thought it was a fun way to use up my scraps to make a tag.

The paper is old CM embossed paper I had in my stash.  I cut the swirls with my Cricut.  The Butterfly and flowers are also CM, but I added the bling and ribbon from item's I bought at Cindy's Simple Stuff.

It's A Girl

One of the fun things about babysitting a girl is that I get to create girly pink pages.  I used a sketch from Inspired to Scrap to create this page.  I think this is the first day that Avery stayed at our house.  (3 years ago now)

Don't you just love that pink bow on the picture?

This page truly had me stumped, until I pulled out the CM Nancy O'Dell collecion and saw the hummingbirds.  I found a way to fit the pictures of the birds onto this baby girl page.

Simple Solutions

Sometimes the best way to make a masculine card is just to keep it simple.   All I did to make this card was to mat some printed paper, put it onto cardstock and wrap some twine around the card front, tying the twine into a knot.  Great way to use up scraps after making a scrapbook page or altered project.

Sweet Cindy Lou

This is my first card for Joan's Stampede Challenge (click here for more details)  The funny thing is her sketch is very similar to the one I created myself in card I made earlier today.  Here is her sketch:

My friends recently lossed their baby girl, Cindy Lou.  I wanted to make a special card that would touch their heart during this difficult time.  I practiced using Wisteria Wonder on the post below this, then made this card using Blushing Bride and Basic Gray and Joanie's sketch challenge for my guide.

National Cardmaking Bliss

National cardmaking day was yesterday, or so I am told.  In honor of the occasion I made this card using my favorite stamp set and a backgroud stamp I have been afraid to use.  My fear is gone and I think I will be using the En Francais background stamp over and over again.  :)

Close up showing some of the details...

Most of the products used were Stampin' UP!  Here's how I did it.

First I used a tent fold base of Sahara Sand(SS), then I created the background on Whisper White (4 x 5 1/2) by lightly sponging Wisteria Wonder(WW) and Sahara Sand.  Next I used the background stamp "En Francais" and inked it up with WW, then I used my sponge to remove some of the ink.  (next time I will remove a little more)  I placed my whisper white cardstock on top of the inked image and rubbed to transfer the image.  After cleaning my stamp I inked up lightly with SS and stamped the background again.  I matted the image with WW cut at at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8)  The last thing I did was to stamp "Bliss" at the bottom right corner using Timber Brown VersaMark.

The center image is another stamp from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set stamped in Wisteria Wonder on Whisper White, and the WW mat is 1/8" bigger.  I popped that up on dimensionals.  The butterflies are stamped, cut out, and adhered using glue dots.

Next I used glimmer mist to add some shimmer.  Then I applied my rhinestones and tied the ribbon around the bottom.  I simply love this card!!!
