Banner Christmas Joy

Is there someone on your list that has everything?  Are you struggling to find the perfect gift for her?  Perhaps today's project idea will help you.  :)

Each pennant has a flower and a letter.  You could put anything on these pennants.  It would be darling to hang little ornaments instead of triangles, or use snowflakes in place of the medallions.

There are so many possibilities once you start creating.

My poor neglected Cricut got a bit of a workout the past few weeks.  I used it to cut out the letters and pennants.  You don't need a Cricut to make this though.  In the video I give you more ideas of other things you can use.

Note: You may need to go to my blog post to see the video above if you are not there now.  :)

Doesn't it look perfect hanging from the shelf in my home?  That is why I had to make another one.  It will probably hang all year long because Joy never goes out of season.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Washi Tape Tree

It's crunch time in the craft room as the deadline to send out Christmas cards and gifts approaches.  Today's card is very quick to make and mass produce.

Isn't it cute!  I filmed a video showing you how easy it is to make this card.

Note: you may need to go to my blog to view the video.  Click on the post title "Washi Tape Tree" above to go there now.  :)

You could punch out gold or silver stars to make this even easier.  I stamped my star, then covered it with dazzling details.  Stars must sparkle, even if they are pink, right?

The die cut panel is made of textured cardstock.  I like the look it added, but it meant I couldn't get a crisp stamped image.  In this instance I was ok with that.  :)   The twine is a yummy pink, raspberry red, and white candy stripe.

If you don't want to take the time to wrap baker's twine and tie a bow you could use the coordinating red washi tape from the Seasons of Style pack, or a strip of paper, or leave it without anything except the sentiment.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to papercrafting.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

P.S. Sorry about the late posts, poor picture quality and videos issues.  It has been a struggle with technology, but I see light at the end of the tunnel.  (Today I made the trip to Olympia to pick up our new modem.)  Thank you for being patient with me as I learn my new computer, update our home internet and figure out how to transfer photoshop to my new computer.  By the beginning of next year I should have everything up and running faster than ever.   That means no waiting all day for photos to upload and edit and download.  (in theory at least)

Cricut Bling

Getting together with friends to scrapbook is one of the joys of my life.  We talk, laugh, cry and share.  When a few friends got together last month to scrapbook there was some serious sharing going on.  I brought my Cricut Expressions machine and all my cartridges, but mostly used the FABULOUS cart that Cindy brought.  (Sorry I don't remember the name)   I ended up using her cartridge on every page I made that day.

When I made this page I wanted just a little something extra.  I was going to cut a snowflake, but somebody else was already using the cartridge (it was a POPULAR cartridge that day) I needed so I dug around in my stash and found these sparkly snowflakes.  They were the perfect touch to the title.

Here is the two page spread.  I carried the snowflakes over to the second page.

Thanks again, Cindy, for sharing the gift Twyla gave you.  Thank you to Louise and Sharen for getting us together.

Make Two, Give One

In 2010 I gave myself a challenge to make all the cards I gave out that year, unless I already had them.  My goal was to not buy any cards, and hopefully improve my skills in cardmaking.  I also wanted to use up my ever growing stash of paper, stickers, brads, ribbons and other miscellaneous embellishments.

One thing I found very helpful was to make 2 cards at a time and give one away.  That way I would have an extra on hand for those times I needed a quick card or didn't have time to make a new one.  If I made a card that I really liked I would often make 3 or 4.

Fast forward to today.  Micheal needed a birthday card for his friend, and I didn't have time to make one.  I went digging through my stash and found my favorite young man card I have ever made.  I think I made at least half a dozen of these in 2010, but I still had one left.  Hope he likes.  Michael didn't even know this boy back in 2010, so it will be new for him.

To make this card I tore several different pieces of cardstock in various "camo" colors, making sure to leave the edges rough.  Next I layered these pieces onto a piece of white cardstock, making sure to leave some white showing.  (If you are making several of these, you can just adhere it to a large piece of cardstock, and then trim down.)

After I had the camo look I wanted, I trimmed down the white cardstock to 3 3/4 x 5.  The sentiment in the middle was cut out using my Cricut, and cut again using the shadow feature.  I used brads through the top of the tags to add some metal to the card.  I then mounted the "white" cardstock to a black mat.  (4 x 5 1/4)  Allt his was adhered to my white card base.  It really is super simple and easy.  I think I used my xyron to adhere all the different elements, except the brads, but it has been so long now, I'm not 100% sure.

Beautiful Composition

Today marks the first day of a new Bible study I am doing both with my local ladies group AND with some of Scrapshare friend on Facebook. To get ready for the study I found this darling composition book and decided to alter it a bit to make it even more personal. Having something pretty to write in makes me look forward to my study time even more.

After printing out some things from the website and deciding where to add them to my book, I embellished with ribbon, vellum, stickers, etc. That swirl in the top corner is cute on a velvety material using my new Cricut Cartridge from Creative Memories called Reminisce. It's my first time using that cartridge even though I've had it for almost a month!

The inside cover (LHS) has a guide to what we will be reading each day. First I used SU bliss stamp and some pearly white ink on the black cardstock to make the background paper for my matted printout. On the first page (RHS) is a description of the SOAP method.

I also added this scripture and some stickers to the back to cover up bar codes, etc.
