Squirrel Detour

This morning I started making a card to share with you.  My kids have a minimum day, so I left at 11am to go pick them up, figuring I would have time later to put the finishing touches on that card.  Then I took the boys to get haircuts, yes, the picture of my son above is after his haircut... she told me she took an inch off all over... I asked if she was sure she took any off... lol.  :)  We picked up lunch at Subway and headed to the park to eat our sandwiches.  That's when I got really sidetracked by this adorable little squirrel.

We must have watched him for close to an hour.  It felt good to be out in the fresh air and sunshine with my boys who are growing too fast.  I'm sure you all understand that they are my priority and I took this precious time to just be with them and not rush to the next thing.

Afterwards I went to Safeway to pick up a few things.  Everybody else in town was there too.  I guess that's what I get for going to a grocery store on the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend.  :)  As a treat I got a $2 Mocha Cookie Frap.  mmmmmm!!!  Haven't had a frapuccino for a loooooooong time.

Came home and watered my flowers, fed the fish in our pond and watched our boys play ball.

So, that is my day.  I'll work on editing the video for May's thank you card tonight and maybe even finish up that card for you.  :)  Check back in tomorrow for more crafty ideas and inspiration.  I'm going to go finish watching Avatar with my family.  <3

Midnight Muse Graduation

Today's card is similar to yesterday's card with a few tweaks.   This card is flipped on it's side.  I used the new Midnight Muse, Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake instead of just Black.  Midnight Muse is such a deep, rich color.  I really like it.  It falls between Night of Navy and Not Quite Navy.

On a side note, something has gone terribly wrong with my camera. I'm hoping it's just that the batteries were super low. I had to run through all the different settings on my camera just to get these 2 shots.   Do you have any good camera recommendations?

Happy Graduation ~ PDCC132

Graduation cards are in high demand right now.  Here is an elegant, yet simple card to make for any grad.
The color combo comes from this week's color challenge at the Play Date Cafe.  I thought the new Summer Starfruit color was a good yellow for this challenge, and black & white are always nice on formal cards.

Hopefully you picked up the Rue Des Fleurs stamp set before the Occasions Mini catalog was over.  If not, then keep your fingers and toes crossed that it will show up in a future catalog.  It was such a pretty set.

I'm not yet sure which grad(s) will be getting this card.  It is one that I will probably make a few more of, so I have extra on hand.  Now that I have a child in high school it seems like I know more people who are graduating.  :)

Daring Adventure ~ Mojo 242/HSS119

It's that time of year.  Graduation invitations are pouring in.   This card would be perfect for any grad, but especially for the young men you need to give a card to.

The inspiration came from this week's fabulous sketch over on the Mojo Monday blog and the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Perfect timing for me.  :)  I'll be doing at least one more card for this challenge, and hopefully get it posted in time.

Isn't this a wonderful sketch?  I loved the detail of the jagged triangle along that middle strip.

I don't have a punch like that, so I decided to make my own. Then I filmed a video so you can make it too. :)

In the video I showed you the two options to finish this card.  Which do you like better?  The timepiece or the hodgepodge hardware?  I'm torn.  I like them both.

Here's a peek at the inside.  This could easily work as a birthday card or Father's Day card.  The Well Word Designer Series paper works nicely for any masculine card or scrapbook page you may want to create.

Now to make a few feminine graduation cards for all the young ladies we know who are graduating.  :)

May Thanks Sneak Peek

To make this month's thank you card a bit special I decided to use all of the new 2012-2014 In Colors.  :)  If you place an order with me this month I will send you one of these cards.

From left to right the colors are: Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green and Primrose Petal.

Later today or tomorrow I'll be filming a video on how to make this card, but I need to check the "rules" to see if I can show you the ink pads before they are officially released.

Thank you for supporting my business.  I'm excited to send these cards out to you!  In your card will be a small sample of all the new colors.   :)

Catalog Update

Our weekend is packed with baseball games for our boys, so no time to stamp or scrapbook.  :(  But I'll be back in the craft room tomorrow to play with all the new In-Colors that I received.  New ink pads, markers and paper... oh my!  Not to mention the new catalog in my hot little hands to browse through while the boys are warming up for their games.  Ideas are swimming around in my head just ready to get out!

If you placed a $25 or more order with me in the month of May, then your new catalog is on its way.  Hip Hip Hooray!  If you still want to get a Free catalog from me, simply place any order of $25 or more through my Stampin' UP! store

Breakfast with Tiffany's

What better inspiration can you get than a box from Tiffany's to create a thank you card?  Yesterday I showed you the inspiration.  Click here if you missed it.

Pool Party box with a White Satin Bow (retiring) and you have your own present to unwrap.  When you untie the ribbon you see this grateful message inside.

The pool party box is layered on a square cut from the scallop square duo die.  I used a piece of DSP from the (retired) Attic Boutique paper pack. Then I layered that onto a piece of 4"x5.25" Whisper White Cardstock that I had run through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I layered the entire thing onto my card base.
The inside of the card is decorated as well to flow with the cardfront.  (and in case they don't know to open the bow.)

Even though this card was a thank you for my gift from Tiffany's, I think it would be a lovely thank you card for any gift.  It would also make an elegant invitation.

I hope I inspired you to get a little creative.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

P.S.  You can get a free catalog sent to your door with any order of $25 or more from my Stampin' UP! store before May 30th, 2012.  (USA only)  I just got my copy yesterday and I LOVE it!!!  I think you will too.  :)

Inspired by Tiffany's

Inspiration can truly come from anywhere.  If you are a woman, and even if you are a man, you probably know what this little box is.

Back in March I was on business trip with my husband, and the company gave all the spouses these "little blue boxes".  Ahhhh...bliss.  It didn't even matter what was inside.  I was so grateful to get my first piece of jewelry from Tiffany's, and recognition for the support we spouses give to their employees (our spouses).  Sometimes "thank you" truly is enough, but jewelry doesn't hurt.  :)

They even had my name on the ribbon.  <3

Tomorrow I will be showing you the thank you card I created.  This little gift surely was great inspiration for creating a thank you card.

Creative Blessings,
Heather
