Father's Day is coming up this weekend and my dad's birthday is this week too! I need some masculine cards STAT, so I pulled out my new-to-me stamp set from Stampin' UP! called High Tide. It's perfect for my dad who loves the ocean and my father in law that loves fishing.
If you are making one card, you might as well make 3, right? I let the camera and have a video for you.
Today I have the opportunity to be in a very special blog hop with my uber-talented and famous upline, Dawn Griffith of Dawn's Stampin' Thoughts, and several members of her Glitter Queens team.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads (and dad substitutes) out there! Hope you are having a weekend filled with love and appreciation. Plus a special "thinking of you" for those whose dads are no longer with them.
My stamp stash is sorely lacking in Father's Day stamps. What's a girl to do? Pull out my Christmas stamps with deers on them and add a tab for the teeny tiny Father's Day wish.
The banner looked a little bare, so I just took my brush tip pen and did up strokes to make it look like my deer were standing in some brush. :) Then I added some clouds with soft sky ink and glossy accents to the deer for a bit a texture. Linen thread wrapped around the top of the banner brought in yet another type of texture. This is the card I sent to my dad this year. Hope he likes it!
A couple of weeks ago I went searching for some masculine stamp sets for Father's Day, birthday and graduation cards. Do you know what I found? Not much, and what I did find that I liked was sold out. hmf. What's a girl to do? Take my own advice and use what I have with a masculine color scheme to create cards to send to our dads and grads. On Monday I shared one of those cards. It was the simplest to make. Today I am stepping up my game a bit with some sponging.

The first time I die cut my sponged piece with the interlocking die I had several spots that didn't die cut all the way through. Did I throw it away? Nope, I added a large stamped panel to the front of my card and nobody will ever know what it underneath. ;)

Even though I am calling these masculine cards, it uses a fresh fun color palette that could be sent to anyone. Try changing the colors of sponging and sentiments to come up with unique cards you can call your own. The interlocking die is the star of all these cards and I am finding it to be a very versatile cover up die.

I started with the striped paper I've been hoarding from the High Tide DSP. It's so silly not to use paper I love, isn't it? This layout is great because I only needed a little. ;) As if I really needed to save paper.

Last weekend my son went to his friend's birthday. His friend has had a rough year and I wanted to make a personalized card for my son to bring to his party. Tyler told me his favorite colors (Orange Camo) and we talked about what Dakoda likes. Together we came up with this card.
At first I was going to make a camo card with torn paper like I did in THIS POST, but I wanted to play with my new Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamps to do all the background stamping and then I stamped words from a retired stamp set onto 3/4" strips of Whisper White cardstock. Then I put those pieces on some crisp cantaloupe cardstock and stuck them to my card front. The stars were stamped with Pumpkin Pie, and come from the same stamp set as the sentiment.

My card today was made for a design team challenge over at StampNation. We had several pictures to use as our muse and I kept being drawn to a framed picture of a map on the wall. Sooooooooo, I made my own framed "map" using some Epic Day Designer Series Paper.
From that starting point, and some help from an old Mojo Monday sketch, I pulled this card together. I let the paper decide the colors for me. Here's a tip for you: If you look in your catalog at the description of the DSP you will see all of the colors listed for each paper pack.
I stamped the ship from The Open Sea onto one of the pieces of patterned paper. Then I sponged the water portion with Pool Party and a touch of Island Indigo. Next I used my White Gel Pen to make the sails stand out a bit more. After I punched out the image with my large circle punch I added dash lines and a bit more Pool Party sponging around the edges.
The last step for me was to add the sentiment. This card could easily be a birthday card or retirement card or used for any occasion. It isn't frilly and pink, so it works for any guy in my life. However, this card will be going to someone extra special next week. ;)
Spring is coming and so are Spring Weddings, Easter and Mother's Day. This card could be used for any one of those things by changing the sentiment.
The tag has been spritzed, smooched, layered and popped up using thin strips of dimensionals. If you look closely at the big heart you can see how thin I had to cut it to fit behind the heart frame.
There is so much going on with the collage card. I think I put just about every embellishment I could on that little tag. :)
As you can see in the close-up photo the sentiment says "For the Newlyweds", but you could easily change it to fit your needs.
