First Friday Glitter Queens Blog Hop ~ Easter

Today I have the opportunity to be in a very special blog hop with my uber-talented and famous upline, Dawn Griffith of Dawn's Stampin' Thoughts, and several members of her Glitter Queens team.

It's called the First Fridays blog hop and will take place the first Friday of each month.  Our theme this month is Easter, so I wanted to make an extra special card.  The video below will show you how you can create one of the double gate fancy fold cards for yourself.

Sunday Share | Blessed Easter

Happy Easter, my friends!  I pray you are blessed with special times today surrounded by special people.  I feel very lucky to still have my boys living at home.  My oldest has to work so he will miss church (on Easter Sunday, I know), but he works as a security guard on the weekends and criminals don't take Sundays off.  :(  He will be home in time for dinner though and for that I am grateful.   As my kids grow up and become adults I am sure their will be more holidays spent without them, so I treasure every one that they are near.

We won't be spending Easter with our extended families, but a recent trip to CA means I did just get to see many of them, including my in-laws and my precious niece.  Scott and I were even able to visit my brother's church last Sunday and I held his baby while he played guitar on the worship team.  Talk about an answer to prayer.  Mom & I couldn't help the tears streaming down our faces.

Speaking of my precious niece, check out those cute bunny ears.   I found them at the Target dollar spot and had to pick them up for Meeka.  Isn't she adorable?!!

She is such a good baby.  She's rolling over and trying to crawl now.  By the time I see her next she will probably be walking.  She seems to be growing even faster than my own babies did.  That is probably because I don't see her often.

Mom & Dad picked up this adorable outfit for Meeka while on a recent cruise.  She looks like a little elf or perhaps a baby hobbit.  So stinkin' cute!

And so happy!

Her bottom 2 front teeth are coming in, so she did a lot of drooling and chewing on her fingers.  (or anyone else's that got to close to her mouth)

Her sweet little laugh lights up my world.

Just in case you missed yesterday's post about Grandma's quilt, here is a picture of her with it.   If you look really close at the table next her you will see my hug you card I sent her between the lamp and the teal mason jar.  :)  It made me so happy that my card made her so happy.

Have a blessed Easter!

Lovely Lilac Tulips

Yesterday I spent a little time out in my flower beds pulling weeds and checking out the bulbs that are starting to push up.  It's so fun to see the dead looking flower bed start to emerge with new life from the roots buried beneath the soil.

That's what inspired me to pull out this tulip stamp and my Copic markers.  Right now there are just green leaves poking out, but soon my flower bed will be awash with color.

Linking up with 2 fabulous challenges today:

Easter Blossom Blessings ~ Video

My last Easter card from my one-on-one class last week, and I save the best for last.  Thankfully my friend's favorite Stampin' UP! color is also mine, so when I asked her which color she wanted to use for our last card, she chose Wisteria Wonder.   What am I going to do when they retire it?  Probably grab Perfect Plum.  :)

Easter is only 2 weeks away, so if you want to get some Easter cards made I suggest getting the Easter Blessings stamp.  You can pair it up with any flowery stamp set you already own and make a lovely card, or use it on its own like we did for yesterday's card

The ribbon flower that is available in the Spring mini is so soft and pretty, but it only comes in one color...Vanilla. What's a girl to do when she wants more colors? Watch the video below and see a SUPER EASY trick for coloring your flowers.

***Note*** To watch the video above you may need to head over to my blog.  Simply click on the blog post title above (Easter Blossom Blessings) and it should take you right to this blog post.  ;)

May your day be blessed with creativity.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

***REMINDER****  Sale-A-Bration (SAB) ends next week!  March 22nd is the deadline to get your FREE item of choice from the SAB catalog for every $50 you spend. Don't miss out!

Easter Blessings ~ CAS

The sentiment takes center stage with this Easter card.  It's another one my friend, Louise, and I came up with.  Even though it's very clean and simple (CAS), it's still elegant and very pretty.

The background Pink Pirouette cardstock was embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  Every time I use that EF my card looks more elegant.  Wisteria Wonder is a soft dusky pastel color that pairs up beautifully with the pink.

Now that I look at it, I think the knot in the ruffled ribbon should go on the other side because I put the flower on the right.  Oh well.   I'm pretty sure the "design police" won't find me here in my little corner of blogland.  :D

Tomorrow I will have a video and one last card from my stamping day with Louise.  The video will show you how we colored the little ribbon flower.  Isn't it sweet?

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Easter Eggs CAS

My friend, Louise, has agreed to be my guinea girl.  :)  She is allowing me to give her some one-on-one card lessons so I can become a better demonstrator.  She's a wonderful student and extremely patient with her teacher.   Here is one of the cards we made.

We used the Easter Eggs from the retired SU set, Easter Blossom.  (at least, I think that's what it's called)   Were you able to pick up this set last month while it was on clearance?  It's a lovely set!

I think I need to see if I have a Shamrock stamp and make this into a St. Patrick's Day card for this weekend.  Can you picture 3 little shamrocks instead of eggs?   How about 3 beach balls or baseballs?  Three flowers and a Mother's Day greeting would be nice too.

Thanks, Louise, for sticking with me on this demonstrator journey.  It was fun coming up with a card that didn't use any patterned paper.  Come back tomorrow to see the other cards we made for Easter.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

March 2012 Thank You Card

Here is the Thank You card I promised for everyone who ordered from me in March to help me reach my first promotion.  Isn't she lovely?

When I got home from our trip to CA she was waiting for me in the mailbox along with an adorable card from my upline.  How sweet is that?!!
She even used my favorite color, Wisteria Wonder.  I love it.  Thank you Joanie.

I quickly made a card that I posted on Easter.  Can you tell I've been wanting to use this stamp with Black Embossing Powder?   I think the images are so striking.

One last shot of my card, and the stamp set I earned.  Thank you again for supporting my business.  If you ordered from me in March you should be receiving this card soon.  :)
Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Easter is Coming

Easter is only one short week away.  Can you believe it?  This week I will be working with the paper pack Beau Chateau, the stamp set Heaven Blessed and the extra large Oval Punch to create some springtime Easter Cards.

To make this card, stamp the chick image onto one of the Subtles cardstock colors, punch out using the XL Oval punch, then use a gel pen to add dash lines or dots around the oval.  I adhered my eggs using dimensionals and then put a pearl on the bottom of each egg.

To add even more dimension and texture I added a Whisper White mat that I embossed using a polka dot embossing folder.
This card was so easy to put together.  Even if you don't have time to make cards for Easter, you might have time to make this.  I didn't add an Easter sentiment because I am going to give it to one of my friends as a thank you card the next time they share their chicken's fresh eggs with us.  :)
