Banner Thanks

Yesterday I took some time to get back into challenges, just for the fun of doing them.  :)  I've been so busy with my work, kids and life, that there hasn't been time to just create for fun.  As I made this card I was reminded that I need to make the time for "creative fun".

The challenge this month at Virginia's View Challenge blog is to create a project with stitching/sewing.  My sewing machine has been busy working on quilts, so it was ready to go when I saw the announcement for this challenge.  It was so fun, and super easy, to sew my banners and ribbon onto cardstock.  I really should sew on my cards more often.  The problem is my sewing machine is on the second floor of our house and my stamp room is out in the garage.

The second challenge I am entering is the CASE this Sketch challenge.  Somehow I saw a sneak peek on somebody's blog and new instantly what I would be making.   All I needed was the time!

CTS#75

Isn't this sketch awesome?  I already have a couple more ideas floating around for additional cards.  You can bet I am keeping this one.  The funny thing is the design is so simple.   Perhaps it is just that the sketch gives me permission to leave all that white space.

Before I go I want to tell you of an exciting announcement made today at StampNation.  My friend, and fellow design team member Maureen Merritt (Mama Mo Stamps), has just added videos to her clean and simple classroom!!! (CASC)   If you struggle with CAS like I do, I know you will benefit from her classroom at StampNation.

Supplies:

Ink/Paper: Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, Fresh Prints DSP Stack (SU)
Misc.:  Hearts A Flutter Framelits (SU), Little Labels Punch Pack (SU), Silver Star Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), Chevron Ribbon (SU)

Forever & Always

I have a thing for flourishes and hearts.  What could be better than combining the two?  I made this for my honey for Valentine's Day, but I think it would be a lovely Wedding card or Bridal Shower card too.

First I stamped the flourish from Everything Eleanor, then I stamped the sentiment, Forever & Always from Loving Thoughts.

Then came the fun part, the hearts.  I used the small heart punch and punched out some cardstock and designer series paper.  I also stamped some of the stamps from Hearts A Flutter and punched them out using the same small heart punch.  All the hearts were adhered using the 2 way glue pen.

To add a bit of texture to some of the hearts I used Dazzling Details, on other hearts I used Crystal Effects and the rest I left alone.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Love You

Happy Valentine's Day my creative friends!  Love is certainly in the air... especially at the local middle school and high school.  :)  You should have seen all the flowers and balloons walking by as I picked up my kids from school.  <3  Here's a card you can give to anyone you love.

I CASEd the "Queen of Clean and Simple", Maureen Merritt, for this card.  Her original card was all white, but I added a touch of Real Red and Pretty in Pink to mine.  I like the pop of color, but I LOVE the basic rhinestone heart.  Isn't it sweet?

To make this card, just follow these steps.

1) Stamp your "Love You" sentiment from Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set in Real Red.

2) Create a "mask".  Stamp the sentiment again on a post it note, and cut around the image.  Stick the post it note over the image you first stamped on your card stock.

3)  Ink your scallop heart from the Hearts A Flutter stamp set with Pretty in Pink ink, and stamp your heart.  Make sure your heart goes over your masked off sentiment.

4)  Peel off your mask.  Now you can add your basic rhinestones.  The inner circles from the scallop heart stamp give you a perfect guide!

5) My last step was to pop the panel up on dimensionals in each corner and tie a Real Red 1/4" Stitched Satin Ribbon across the top.

I hope you get to spend time today with someone you love.  If you don't have a Valentine this year, consider sending a love card to a friend or someone you know could use a little cheer.

Heart Rainbow ~ PDCC168

Every time I look at this card my opinion of it seems to change.  Sometimes I really like it and other times I dislike it.  I'm not sure what to think.  Perhaps the problem is that I like the separate elements, but don't like how I put them together.   Or, maybe my heart on the right is too big, or the blank space on the left is too, well, blank.  ;)  Who knows?

One thing is sure, I had fun making it.  That is often the point of me spending time in my craft room... it's the creative process that thrills me.  I love the pinks and rose colors.  The hearts are right up my alley, and that banner is my favorite thing on the card.

My plan was to make a video showing you how I made the heart "rainbow", but the more I looked at the card, the less I was sure I even liked it.  I basically stamped, then stamped off each heart frame using the Hearts A Flutter stamp set.  Then I repeated it using the small heart from Tiny Tags in the same colors to stamp in the center of the heart frames.  The decorative edge comes from the Adorning Accents Edgelits Die.

Color inspiration came from the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe.

Aren't they wonderful colors blended together?  I love the inspiration photo too.  It uses the white and craft colors just like my card, but there is also a touch of green.

Heather North

Honeycomb Heartstrings

My card today had two inspiration sources.  First was a photo challenge for my design team submission over at StampNation.  The second came from the Jan./Feb. Stampin' Success magazine all demonstrators get.

I just love the Hearts A Flutter stamp set and matching Framelits.  I've always loved hearts, so it's no surprise to those who know me.  The big surprise to me is how much I've been enjoying the Pool Party/Pink combination.  Personally I like to combine Pink Pirouette, Pool Party and Rose Red you see in my card.

The sentiment comes from one of my favorite SAB items, Vintage Verses.  I stamped it then cut it out by hand.

To string the hearts and banners I used the small hole punch and threaded the Baker's Twine through the holes.

The last heart has a cute little heart paper clip from the Elements Cute Clips pack.  As you can see from the picture I also used a dimensional on the back of the tiniest Rose Red heart and adhered it to my Pool Party banner.

Hope this inspired you to create your own card.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Sending You Love

Do you need a quick and easy Valentine's card?  This is it!  Actually you could send an "I Love You" anytime to anyone special in your life.  We can all use a little love in our hands.

This card is a great example of why I love Stampin' UP! products.  The paper matches the stamps and the ink so perfectly.

The large heart doily was one I snipped out of the More Amore Specialty DSP (Designer Series Paper).

The smaller, white doily was one that I stamped using Hearts A Flutter stamp set, then cut out using the scalloped heart from Hearts A Flutter Framelits.

The smallest heart was stamped in black onto another piece of DSP from the More Amore pack and again cut out with the same framelits.

As a finishing touch I pulled out my Bitty Banners set and matching framelits to add the love banner.  If you don't have these framelits though you could always cut them out by hand.

Heather North

Stitched Hearts A Flutter ~ January Thank You Card

Friday has arrived!  It's my favorite day of the week because it holds all the promise of the weekend.  That's probably why I like to share a video on Fridays when I can.  It's my way of sharing the love.

These are my January thank you cards.  Everyone who places a Stampin' UP! order with me will receive one of these sweet heart cards.

In the video below you will see how I created this card along with some tips to make one yourself.
***Note- you may need to visit my blog to see the videos.

The card has dimension, but it is still "flat" enough to mail.

Thank you to all my customers for choosing me as your Stampin' UP! Demonstrator. I truly do appreciate your business.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North
