Need Some Serious Mojo...

It's been over a week since I created anything new.  Yes, I have had cards & videos on my blog, but that is because I had made them earlier in preparation for a busy week.  :)   After work tonight I went to my craft room to finish the card I started over a week ago.  Ugh.  I struggled.

I'm not sure if it is because I tried to create my own color combo using yellow (So Saffron).  Yellow is always a bit tricky for me.  It could have been because I was using florals.  For some reason I don't do well with florals.  Perhaps it is because I took a break from crafting.  It might have something to do with being surrounded by adolescent boys for the past 7 days.  Who knows?  Anyway, here is the final result.

I do like the jewelry tag detail.  :)

This picture shows the dimension I added to the card.  What do you think?  Is it too ugly to send to someone?

Masculine Monday, Revved Up!

Last week I posted a very similar card with a video.  If you missed last week's post, and want to see it, scroll down or click here.  Today I will show you the revved up version I talked about making in my video.  I wanted to do it with the first card, but I liked it so much that I decided to just take pictures before I possibly messed it up.  :)

Turns out, I like the revved up version even better.  No real surprise there since I like the details.  What I did was color the car (Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey and Pool Party)  I used my blender pen for the windows and wheels.   Then I took some Crystal Effects and made the car "shiny".  I LOVE it!!!  Looks like a fancy sports car.  I let the CE dry overnight.

My 12 year old thought the card was pretty cool.  I think I may give this to my DH for his birthday in October.   Shhhhh, don't tell him.  ;)  Of course, by then I will probably find another stamp set I just have to have in order to create a card for him.

Sunday Share

It's been awhile since I shared some photos of what we have been up to.  If you are not family or friends, feel free to skip this post, because it's not about cards.   :)

Friday we went to the fair.   We got to see the rabbits & ribbons that Nicholas and Logan had there.  Way to go boys!  We also saw Nick's cool diorama.

The boys had a blast playing laser tag.  (I forgot to take a picture)  Then they were off to the rides.

Michael didn't want to get sick, so he stood by and gave them a "thumbs up" for going around in circles.  I'm with Michael.  Those rides just look dizzying to me.  Instead of the rides, he thought he could win an electric guitar doing the ring toss.  He thought wrong.  :)

Louise and I went to look at the horses.  They had so many there.  It was fun to see them all.  Of course, I didn't take any picture.  Oops.   I did get one last shot of all four of our boys together before going home.

Earlier in the week I took Michael up to Olympia to rent his instrument for band.  He has decided he wants to play saxophone instead of trumpet, and our neighbor Steve let him try one out.  (Steve owns Music 6000 if you live local and want a good music shop!)  He loved it!  While we were there he also tried out a couple of guitars.  Now he wants to save his money for a guitar.  This kid is so musically inclined.  I LOVE it!

I also spent an afternoon with my older son.  Last weekend he passed his driving exam with a 92% and finished his driver's ed class.  Now we wait for school to start again to see if he passed his course.  (RHS sends out a certificate, but the secretaries aren't back yet to do so.)   He is learning how to drive this summer, and we went on a driving expedition.  I don't have any pictures.  :(  I need to take some.  Actually I should take some video.  It would be hilarious!  I have a few more wrinkles this summer, for sure!

The boys had friends over.  They will be getting together with more friends this week.  I thought I took pictures, but I guess I didn't.  As the kids get older I find myself taking fewer pictures.

We continued working on the shed/shop.  This has been our project all summer.   Mostly it is my husband, and the majority of the work is done on the weekends.    It started in early July with the slab being formed up.  The dogs thought we put in a new heat pad for them.  lol

Next came the cement.

Then the framing went up.  Maximus is curious about why we are building his house way out in this corner of the yard.  :)

The boys have been working hard too.  They were motivated to earn some extra money.

The dogs really do think this house is being built for them.  Especially Max.  Probably because I brought a new kitty home and he wants to escape the house.  LOL.

New kitty picture, in case you haven't seen her.

This weekend has been spent working on the roof, doors, and trim.   I'm off to work, and then hope to help my husband put on the shingles.  He was hoping to finish this weekend, but I think we have another weekend in store.  I don't see this thing being painted, roofed, doored and trimmed today.

So, I don't have any new cards for you today.  I typically do my scrapbooking on the weekend.  Now you can see why I haven't shown any scrapbook pages in awhile.  I don't think I have scrapbooked at all this summer.  :(   But, our summer project will be done in a couple of weeks.  Driver's ed is over. The kids will be back to school in a few weeks, and I can get back to my regular crafty schedule.  (In theory)

Wonderful Papillion ~ Part 3

When I first sketched out this card I only planned to make two of them.  A simple version using a punch and a stepped up version using Framelits.  But, when I started making them I knew I could step it up further and do a "step 3" card.   (I guess watching all those step it up videos my upline is fabulous at making finally paid off for me.  lol)

This final version of the card is very similar to the second card.  I just added one thing and changed another.   Watch the video to see how I made this one.

In this version of the card, my butterfly has linen thread instead of Baker's Twine.

I also added a sentiment with some bling to my final card.

I'm curious, which card is your favorite?

Wonderful Papillion ~ Part 2 Video

Did you like the first card in my 3 part series?  If you missed it, click here, or scroll down to see yesterday's post.   My second card comes with another video.  Actually two videos.   In the first one I show you how to make the card, in the second video I show you how to make your own shimmer spray.  :)

The video shows how I stepped up this second card.

In case you missed my technique on creating your own shimmer mist, here is that video.  I also have this video on my Cardmaking 101 page for future reference.  :)   It's super easy to make.

Here is another look at the finished Step 2 card.

After I finished this card, I wanted to add a bit more "bling", so I filmed a 3rd card.  It's fun to see how adding just a few more elements can really change a card.  Come back tomorrow to see Step 3 in my Wonderful Papillion series.

Wonderful Papillion ~ Video Part 1

My favorite color is lilac, so it is no surprise that I love Stampin' UP's Wisteria Wonder.  I did a 3 part card series with videos using this color and the Papillion Potpouri stamp set.  It was only going to be 2 cards, but I was having so much fun that I actually did 3.

At first I wasn't going to film a video using this set because I have no idea how to pronounce it.  LOL  I figured y'all would forgive me if I said it wrong, because the stamp is just too pretty not to use.  :)

Here is the video for the first card in this three part series.

Happy Birthday, Nana... Again ~RS#23

Today is my Mother-in-law's birthday.  We sent her card out earlier, so she would hopefully have it by today.  After talking to her today and wishing her happy birthday I went to the hobby room and made her another card.    Poor thing wasn't feeling well today.  I thought another card for her birthday week might bring joy to her heart.

As I've said before, Nana likes yellow.  She also likes pink, florals and antiques.  I hope she will like this card. I used my new favorite stamp set, Affection Collection, and the colors Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette and So Saffron.

This week's Retro Sketches gave me the inspiration I needed.  As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use that stamp set.  All I needed to decide were the colors.

Isn't that a cute, CAS, card sketch?   Of course, I added some extra layers, but I kept a lot of "white space" like the original sketch has.  I want to make another card and try to copy the sketch exactly.

The inside of the card was a happy accident using some of my "leftovers".  I stamped several colors of banners to see which ones I would like together, and I had these 3 left over.   As I placed them on the inside they looked like they were hanging, so I went with that.   I "hung" them on a strip of paper, then punched out some little flowers and used them as "hangers".  This has inspired me to make another card.  :)   If it looks as cute IRL as it does in my head I will post it on this blog.
