Scrapbook Sunday

I'm still going strong in the Inspired to Scrap sketch class.  This week we got 3 sketches.

Close up of my work in progress.   I'm loving the look of banners, but I still haven't mastered the "cut".   I may buy SU! Paper Snips with my next order and try making these banners again because those scissors have a nice sharp point.

Sketch 6: was a Double Page Spread.  I LOVE it!  I'll be using this one again.  I added 3 pictures to the sketch to make it fit the pictures I wanted to use.

Have you ever bought Double Sided Paper, and had a difficult time deciding which side to use?  Sometimes it seems a shame to hide the back side.  This page is a nice solution.  Here's what I did.

1. Cut 3" off a 12x12" sheet of double sided paper.  Now you have a 9"x12" Sheet and a 3"x12" paper.
2. Cut the 3" paper in half to 1 1/2" x 12"
3. Place one of the 1 1/2" strips on the top of the page.
4. Turn the 9" x 12" paper over to the other side and adhere below the smaller top strip.
5. Adhere the remaining 1 1/2" strip to the bottom.

Now you have made  your own designer series paper and you get the best of both sides.
(Note: Paper used is retired SU! Blueberry Crisp.  This is my first SU scrapbooking page.  I was honestly surpirsed how well the paper coordinated with my picutres)

Stampin' UP! Supplies Used:
Paper: Sahara Sand, Blueberry Crisp DSP (Retired)
Ink: Pacific Point Marker
Misc.: Basic Glimmer Brads, Glue Dots, Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Dimensionals.
Sketch 7:  Sorry some of he colors are hard to see.  It not a good day to photograph.

Sketch 8

Both together:

Even though the 2 sketches were very different, the 2 pages flow together because they use the same colors and papers.  The colors are hard to see.  There's a snowstorm going on here in SW WA, so this was the best I could do today.  It was fun playing with pink paper, and I love how it looks with the mint green.

Double Challenge Sneak Peak

If you've been reading my blog you may know I am taking a sketch class at Inspired to Scrap this month.  My goal is to post my completed layouts for the week every Sunday, so come back here on Sunday to see the completed page.  Today I'm giving you a sneak peak at one of the layouts I've been working on.  It's a double challenge.

1. The layout is from Double Page Spread Sketch from Inspired to Scrap.

2. My upline challenged me to use Stampin' UP supplies in my scrapbook.  To be honest I've mostly used SU supplies to make cards and other projects.  This is my first page using SU paper.  I took the challenge and I'm glad I did.   There were so many papers that coordinated with these pictures that I had a difficult time choosing one.  I love it when it's hard to choose because so many things would work.

The paper I went with is now retired, so you could almost say that I did a 3rd challenge by using something in my "stash".   Gotta use up what I have so I can buy more. ;)  My husband says I have more paper than I could ever possibly use.  I say you can never have too much paper.

Be sure to check in on Friday.  I'll be sharing a video and offering a little contest.  :)

Inspired Mojo

Mojo Monday meets Inspired to Scrap Sketch 1.  This card is a combination of Mojo Monday Sketch #222 and the first sketch in a class I am taking at Inspired to Scrap.  There is still time if you would like to join in on this month's sketch class.  The sketches are designed for scrapbook pages, but I am also finding they work well for cards.

Most of this card was made using scraps I had leftover from the scrapbook page I created using the first sketch.  (Sorry I can't show the sketch, you'll have to join the class to see it)  One tip I got years ago was to take your scraps and make a card after each scrapbook page you make.  This way you have less to clean up and put away.  ;)  Actually, I think the point was that you would build your card stash, but either way it works for me when I have the time.

To make the banner/ribbon stand out a bit more I curled the edges around my Paper Piercing Tool.

Crumb Cake ink was sponged on to the flower to soften the bright white it was originally.

If you would like to play along with this week's Mojo Monday just click on the picture above.

Tune in tomorrow to see more scrapbook pages I've made in class.

Love Blossoms

Something old, something new. The New 2012 Occasions Mini catalog goes live today. :) So much good stuff in there.    You can go to my webstore to view all the goodies. Today's card features a sweet little heart trinket from the new Occasions Mini and a stamp set, Love Blossoms, from the 2011 Holiday Mini.

Isn't the heart precious?  The texture/design is on both sides, so you can hang this charm, with the included clasp, from a bracelet or necklace.  It's pretty enough to wear.   I chose to use some twine to tie it onto my ribbon knot.

Sometimes simple really is best.  I was just playing around with this stamp set on a piece of very vanilla cardstock, and it turned into this card.  Almost looks like I planned it.

Would you like an Occasions Mini sent to your home?  Simply place an order through my Stampin' UP! website and I will send you one, or contact me if you do not already have a demonstrator.  :)

Corvette Christmas

Scott, my dear husband, got a Corvette for Mother's Day, Father's Day, his birthday AND Christmas this year.  LOL   I made him this paper album of some of the places we have gone in his shiny new Vette since we got it last May.  It was fun to make and look at all the things we have done.  We call it our date car because all summer long we would take it out for a date after dinner.  Mostly just driving around in our beautiful area.  It's a fun car to drive and ride around in.

Driving around Lake Crescent, WA.  LOVE the picture of me in front of the waterfall beside the road.  I didn't even know Scott was taking this picture.  I went across the road to get a better shot of the waterfall, and I was looking for cars before crossing back to the other side of the road.

Simple page, but I liked the double layer of ribbon wrapped around the page.  One of the fun things about making these "paper" albums is that I can add lots of embellishments!

I told my husband we could get the car if we could drive it to Ruby Beach (near Forks, WA) on the first sunny weekend.
A little baker's twine adds a nice touch to these page.  When we went to Longbeach, WA we found a little store that sold Scrapbooks, Espresso and FUDGE!  Heaven on earth.  Ocean, Scrapbook and Chocolate, not to mention coffee to keep you going for those long crops.  I think I could live here.  :)  It was a cute little town.  We are going to take the kids here for a vacation soon.

You can drive your car right onto the beaches here in Washington.  It still amazes me.  Of course, the Corvette didn't go on the beach.  :)  See the little picture of me?  I punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch, then punched out 2 more labels in white and layered them behind the picture.  I had a scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper punched out using the Modern Label Punch, so I just adhered it behind the picture.

Sometimes simple is best.  This way the pictures are the star of the page.  I matted each photo in White.  The strips of Silver Glimmer paper were scraps from my Christmas cards that were laying on my table.  :)  They added just the right touch these pages.  Wish you could see how they sparkle and shine.

That is baker's twine wrapped around the swirly paper clip.  Fun little details were all over this scrapbook.
