Sew Sunday

My plan was to having sewing posts up Saturday and today.  My plan was to have a card up last Thursday and Friday.  Apparently my computer had other plans.  I'm not sure if it is my dying laptop (perhaps Santa Scott will get me a new one for Christmas) or my browser or Blogger or what the problem was, but I had loads of difficulty loading pictures.

That is why Thursday's card was posted on Friday and I wasn't able to post Sew Saturday.   Thanks for being patient with me as I try to figure it out.

I've been busy in the sewing room and stamp room this week.  On the design wall was this adorable tic-tac-toe quilt I made for Hopeful Threads November Challenge using the Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge fabric.

Here are all my blocks ready to pieced.  It's so nice to have this piece of flannel on the wall to put my fabric on.  Something about being able to stand back and look at it straight on vs. overhead makes such a difference.  Perhaps that is why I have been creating my own designs instead of following a pattern.

Last night I pinned my quilt together and today I was able to quilt it.  I thought using the painters tape to make grid lines would make the process easier, but it didn't because I couldn't sew over them.  When I did it ripped the threads up when I pulled off the tape.  No bueno.

Mid Month CheckIn

Today I quilted this baby and sewed on the binding.  I just need to hand stitch it down and this quilt will be done.  Working on a baby size quilt is so much faster than Full and King sizes.   My hope is to also have a girl quilt done by the end of November.  I just need to decide how to quilt it.  I wish I was better at FMQ, but these quilts are giving me good practice.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

P.S.  StampNation will be announcing their new Design Team members next week.  Check in to see if you recognize any of the talented ladies joining our team!

This is looking great! I totally agree about the straight on aspect of having a design wall. So much easier to see what needs to be adjusted as you go. Good luck getting it finished up!

I like that pattern. The unit is simple, but there are so many ways to combine them, I found my eyes and brain coming up with lots of "what if you ...." You did a great job!

As I was designing this quilt I kept think of different ways I could put it together.
