So Sorry... CAS16

So sorry you are going through this...

 because not all cancer is pink.

Another card made for the Calling All Sistahs challenge to bring hope for all types of cancer.  Teal for ovarian cancer.

The background was made by stamping floral images in grey ink on gray cardstock.  To make the ribbon I stamped the sentiment with an ombre ink pad using my MISTI to stamp more than once, then I used a sponge dauber to sponge ink onto the ribbon after die cutting.  The sentiment is stamped on a thin strip of white cardstock, tucked behind the ribbon and then I cut a V out of the end.

Purple Ribbon CAS16

Purple Ribbon is used for several different things including Pancreatic Cancer, Alzeheimers, Lupus, Chron's and more.  The ribbon and love were both die cut from paper that I sponged with purple ink and spritzed with water.  The little hearts come from the 2 Yous Fri-dies.

You could change the color of your ribbon to create this card for someone you love.  Below are just some of the ribbons and what they represent.  I'm thinking of doing this card in yellow for a friend whose husband is deployed.

Purple and Teal Ribbons ~ CAS16

Unfortunately breast cancer is not the only cancer out there.  That is why for this month's Calling All Sistahs Encouragement Squad challenge we are having ribbon of hope challenge for all types of cancer.

When I saw this challenge I asked my friends on Facebook if any of them are facing cancer or have a loved one who is.  Unfortunately two of my friends have mother's facing advanced stage cancer.  The inspiration for these cards comes from Nora Noll on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog.  Clicky to see her card.

This first card was made for my friend whose mom is facing Ovarian cancer.  Both cards were made by swiping 3 colors of Zig Clean Color markers onto Bristol cardstock and then spritzing with water.  Once it was dry I die cut it with a wonky stitch die. For the flowers and leaves I stamped then clear embossed before using Zigs and a little water on my watercolor brush.

My second card is for my friend to give to her mom facing pancreatic cancer.

Calling All Sistahs August Reminder

It's the 17th of the month and that means it is time for my Encouragement Squad Sistahs and I to remind you to do your self check and schedule your mammogram.  We do that by making pretty cards and sharing them HERE.

Today's card is a message of hope.  Instead of pink for breast cancer, I did Purple for a friend whose mom is facing pancreatic cancer. For the background I repeatedly stamped "hope", then stenciled.  The flower was left over from THIS CARD because the card needed a little something.  The finishing touch was some iridescent sequins.
