Feminine Birthday Card

This is the card I made for my mother-in-law.  She is a cardmaker too, but much better than I am.  She puts so much care and attention into each card she makes.  They are truly a work of art.  When it comes time for me to make a card for her I'm always nervous.  I know she will appreciate what I make, but I want to make a card she will love.  Here is the card I made for her this year.

My card was made first by embossing the flourish from Beautiful World in gold embossing powder on Bristol cardstock.  A must for Zigs.  Next I added color with my Zig markers and spritzed with water.  I set the panel aside to dry and stamped the bottom of my card with a retired background stamp from Stampin' Up.  You could also stamp the bottom with one of the swirls included in Beautiful World like I did in Friday's sneak peek for StampNation.

After the colored panel was dry I added a strip of black glitter cardstock and adhered it to my card base.  The finishing touch was adding dots of rose gold pearl.

Stamps: Beautiful World (Gina K Designs) Background Stamp (retired SU)
Ink: 021, 025, 026, 050, 052 (Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers) Black (Staz-On) Versamark
Paper: Black Glimmer (SU) Bristol (Strathmore) Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up)
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder (SU) Rose Gold Liquid Pearls (Ranger)

Calling All Sistahs ~ Breast Cancer Awareness

October is breast cancer awareness month.  As you probably know each month I have the privilege of coordinating the Calling All Sistahs blog hop put on by CASual Fridays Stamps to remind our sistahs to do their monthly self-exams and schedule their yearly mamograms when they are due.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month we wanted to do a special hop to encourage our friends & family that are currently or recently battling breast cancer.

My card today is a CASE (copy and share everything) of a gorgeous card by Rahmat Gouse.  clicky to see her wonderful card.  I recreated it with some brand new stamps releasing this week from CASual Fridays Stamps.  I'm just in love with the new Word Ribbon and all the encouraging sentiments in all 3 of the new stamp sets.

Using acetate as the front of the card makes it look like the butterflies are floating around the ribbon.  I adhered them with glue dots.  Seeing the glue dots doesn't bother me, but if it does bother you, you can add a small heart die cut, or cut more stamped butterflies for the inside.  I fussy cut my butterflies, but you can also just use a circle punch or die to cut them out making it super easy to hide the adhesive on the inside.

On the inside I stamped "Miracles" in a slightly darker shade of pink that the ribbon.  The encouraging sentiment on my card reads: "Believe in Miracles".  <3  Cancer can be cured if it is caught early and treated.  I want you to survive, so please take a moment right now to do your self-check and then make sure you have your mammogram scheduled for this year.  You matter to me!

I'm the last link on the hop, so if you are just starting or halfway through, you will want to start again at the top with CASual Fridays Stamps, and leave a comment on each stop along the hop.  Michele will be giving away all 3 new stamp sets included in her release this week to one lucky commenter!  It could be you!!!

Before you go I want to ask you to join us for next month's hop.  It's really easy and Michele has made it even easier for everyone to join.  All you need is a blog and at least one item from CASual Fridays stamps to use on your card.  It doesn't need to be from the Calling All Sistahs line, but you might want it to after you see the new addition to this fantastic line of stamps and dies.

If you are interested in joining next month's hop email me at sistahoodhop @ outlook. com (no spaces)  Join our Facebook group to get the latest updates and inspiration.

Playing Tag with my Christmas Deer

Over at StampNation the Design Team is playing tag and you are invited to play tag right along with us.  Today is my feature day, and I had the opportunity to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) my talented friend, Kristie.  I loved her card so much that my CASE ended up looking too much like hers and I had to go back to the drawing board and tweak it up just a bit for my tutorial.  Here is a sneak peek of my card.  Head on over to the StampNation classroom to see my video.

Falling Into Autumn

When I was a kid I longed for summer and a break from school, but as an adult Autumn is my favorite season.  What's not to love?  The air turns crisp and cool.  Fat Fall raindrops are followed by clear blue sunny skies.  Long shadows flow through the trees as their leaves dance in beautiful colors.   There's just not much I don't like about the Fall.   That's why I am excited about this week's challenge at StampNation.   It's all about celebrating the beauty of the season.  Here's a sneak peek at my card for this week.

The embossing on the Thank You sentiment, as well as some of the leaves, is a combination of 2 colors of metallic embossing powders.  In person it is stunning!  I wish I could capture it on my camera for you.

Stamps: Butterfly Notes (Catherine Pooler Designs) Vintage Leaves (Stampin' Up)

For the next 7 days Catherine will be giving 100% of her profits from the sales of her new Hello World stamp set & dies will be giving to help fund the computer program at the school where Jennifer Ingle's husband works as a teacher.  What could be better?  You get some new goodies to play with, the design team brings you a blog hop with dozens of ideas to use them and the kids get new computers and software to build their future!   Win Win Win!!!

As if that weren't enough goodness, Catherine came out with another stamp set for this weekend called YAY stripes.  One of the stamps in this set was inspired by my suggestion, so I just HAD to make a card using it for you.  I'll be filming a video and talking about it next week, but for now, I introduce you to the dotted chevron stripe.

Can you guess where the inspiration came from?  Those who know me best might be able to.  ;)  Along with Hello World stamps & dies, and YAY! Stripes stamp set the entire Lovely Notes Collection will also be added to the store.  You might as well add a bit more to your cart if you already paying shipping, right?!  ;)

To get pink paper to perfectly match the pink dot chevrons I did the direct-to-paper technique.  Simply swipe the ink on piece of white cardstock and you have instant colored paper.  :)

Ink: Grapesicle, Limeade, Tropical Teal (My Favorite Things) Versamark
Paper: Black, White (Stampin' Up)

We would love it if you spread the word by sharing this hop with your friends & followers.

BONUS: Instead of a regular blog hop giveaway, I want to give back to the kids, and I hope you do too.  You can help me.  For each 100 people that comment on this blog post by October 3rd,  I will donate $5.00 to the go fund me page.  Your comment will help these kids.  Bless you!
