Joy to the World

Christmas is just around the corner.  It's time to amp up my cardmaking game!  First up is this card colored with Zig Clean Color real brush markers.  Of all the coloring mediums I have tried, I think I like these best.  My only wish is that I had more colors!

To bring a little more highlight to certain areas, I used a white gel pen.  After coloring them in I did a wash of wink of stella to add some sparkle, then used yellow stickles to help make them stamen pop. If you click on the picture to see the close up, you'll notice the embossed die cut of the Merry Label Die.  I just love that double line embossed detail.

Christmas CASE

For those of you who don't know, CASEing, in the stamp world, means Copy And Share Everything.  In October I had the priviledge of caseing my friend, Kristie, as part of a design team challenge over at StampNation.  As I said in the video I made for that class, my first card turned out a little too much like Kristie's, so I had to scrap that one and change it up a bit more for my tutorial.  It's funny because I used different stamp sets, different theme and with the exception of black & white, different colors.  I did use her layout and design.  Here is my original card.

Don't you just love him?  If you would like to see Kristie's card, the second card I came up with and my video tutorial, you can clicky, if you are a StampNation member.

Stamps: Beautiful World (Gina K) Candy Cane Lane, Hip Holiday, Merry and Bright Boughs (Catherine Pooler Designs)

Paper: Basic Black, Vellum, Whisper White (Stampin' Up)

Playing Tag with my Christmas Deer

Over at StampNation the Design Team is playing tag and you are invited to play tag right along with us.  Today is my feature day, and I had the opportunity to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) my talented friend, Kristie.  I loved her card so much that my CASE ended up looking too much like hers and I had to go back to the drawing board and tweak it up just a bit for my tutorial.  Here is a sneak peek of my card.  Head on over to the StampNation classroom to see my video.

Playful Christmas Sneak Peek

Today is the day that the new Stamp of Approval Candy Cane Lane collection goes on sale to StampNation members and those who are on the wait list.  It's also challenge day at StampNation.  The challenge is Playful Christmas.  You know I had to grab the Candy Cane Lane and Hip Holiday stamp sets for this one.

I used the Merry Label dies and made a little window for my stag head to poke through.  Isn't he cute?!!!  He wasn't the first card I made for this challenge though...

Originally I made this wonky tree card for the challenge, but when Catherine said she wanted to use this card for the PDF, I decided to make it available to everyone and used it as my blog hop day card.   That way I could film a video and show you how to get the multi-colored peppermint stick background. Speaking of blog hops, today is the last day to comment on all the designers blog hop pages for your chance to win a box of your own!  You can start at my blog post from Monday, clicky.

Come back tomorrow for another card made using more of the Stamp of Approval Candy Cane Lane collection.

Love on Candy Cane Lane

It's the sweetest time of the year, and my card today reflects that. It is so sparkly and sweet in person.  The background was created by swiping Cotton Candy ink across white cardstock to create a soft pink background, then I inked up the Peppermint Stick background stamp in Versamark ink and used Red Glitz embossing powder to heat set it.  Using the Misti for my big background stamp as well as all the candy canes made it so much easier than trying to do it another way.

When I first saw this set I thought of our family tradition of hanging candy canes on the Christmas tree.  Then I was reminded of all the sweet treats we make around the holidays.  Do you have any sweet Christmas traditions?
