Day 4 of 100 Days of Creativity ~ Thanks

Here we are at Day 4 of daily crafting.  Today I decided to just take an unfinished card and scraps on my desk and turn them into a card.  The background of this one layer card was stamped before Easter.  I was working on a couple of different card ideas to give to a friend of ours that was being baptized.  For this reason I wanted the card to have a springtime masculine feel.  (not easy to do, but colors make all the difference)

One trick for this card is to stamp the lighter colors closer to the middle of the card, getting darker as it gets to bottom.  A light sponging from the bottom up finishes that area nicely.  For this card I added a thanks die cut combined with stamping of "A Note To Say".   The card felt a little empty, so I decided to stamp a butterfly and color it with Zigs.  It didn't turn out perfect, but it is still a nice enough card to send to show my gratitude.

Design A Life

The cards today started with a beautiful stencil used as a stamp.

Stamps: Boss Babe (My Favorite Things)
Ink: Mint to Be, All That Jazz, Aquatini (Catherine Pooler Designs) Versamark
Paper: Black, White (Catherine Pooler Designs)
Accessories:  Lovely Flowers Dies, Turkish Delight Stencil  (Catherine Pooler Designs) White Superfine Embossing Powder (WOW!) Wonky Stitched Rectangle (My Favorite Things) Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)

I inked up the stencil with 3 shades of aqua, then spritzed water over it before "stamping" it onto my cardstock.  There was still plenty of ink, so I stamped it again on a second piece to make the card below.

Falling Into Autumn

When I was a kid I longed for summer and a break from school, but as an adult Autumn is my favorite season.  What's not to love?  The air turns crisp and cool.  Fat Fall raindrops are followed by clear blue sunny skies.  Long shadows flow through the trees as their leaves dance in beautiful colors.   There's just not much I don't like about the Fall.   That's why I am excited about this week's challenge at StampNation.   It's all about celebrating the beauty of the season.  Here's a sneak peek at my card for this week.

The embossing on the Thank You sentiment, as well as some of the leaves, is a combination of 2 colors of metallic embossing powders.  In person it is stunning!  I wish I could capture it on my camera for you.

Stamps: Butterfly Notes (Catherine Pooler Designs) Vintage Leaves (Stampin' Up)
Ink: Aged Mahogany, Carved Pumpkin, Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade (Distress) Early Espresso (SU) Versamark
Paper: Very Vanilla (SU)
Accessories: Blueprints 18 (My Favorite Things) Metallic Copper & Metallic Gold Rich Pale Super Fine Embossing Powder (WOW) Wood Veneer (?)

Lovely Notes from the Stamp of Approval Lovely Notes Collection

Yesterday the Lovely Notes collection from Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval went on sale to those on her wait list.  If there are any collections left they will go on sale today.  :)  Hurry up and clicky to get one before they are gone!!!

This would make a lovely set of cards to give as a gift, don't you think?  I was inspired by Melissa of Mel's Card Corner in her monochromatic card inspired by Lydia of Understand Blue cyanotype card series.  That is a lot of inspiration!  I do so dearly love monochromatic colors.

Each of these cards is just slightly different to keep it interesting for me to make.  I get bored pretty easily making the same things over and over again.  Obviously I changed the colors and embellishments with each card.  I also changed the size of my mask.

Yes, I used a mask of post it notes and post it not tape to sponge on each of the sqaures/rectangles before stamping my images in a slightly darker shade of the same color.

The Lovely Lattice background stamp was stamped out in the same color I used to sponge each card, but I dabbed off a little ink in several places before stamping it to give it a more distressed look.

I wanted this last card to have a bit of a masculine touch so I could give it to one of my boys.  I went old school on this one pulling out my crop-a-dile and large silver eyelet to top the tag.  :)

I hope you have enjoyed this series of cards using the Lovely Notes collection.  I still have a couple more cards to share with you next week.  Catherine should be announcing the winners of the blog hop boxes very soon.  Good Luck and I can't wait to see what all of you create with this truly lovely collection!!!
