Valentine's Day Card

Monday I went back to my stamp room and got creative.  Last month I started getting a sinus infection that turned into bronchitis with a double ear infection thrown in.  Needless to say, I couldn't film or edit videos.  The only time I went into the stamp room was to finish up a deadline for the Stamp of Approval release.  I'm slowly getting better, and I will be sharing the cards and video I never had a chance to last month.

For today though, I have an extra special card.  It was commissioned by my son for his girlfriend.  He wanted it to be pink.  Be still my heart.  I had so much fun making this card.  His girlfriend is a sweetheart and  I'm honored to be able to do this for her.

Since it was a special occasion, I stamped the envelope as well.  The stamp set I used is one of my all time favorites that Stampin' Up retired years ago.  It's probably time to sell it on ebay, but I'm glad I was able to give it some inky love one last time.

My Love

It's challenge day at StampNation.  Maureen picked a lovely photo for inspiration.   In fact, I was so inspired that I created 2 cards.  First a sneak peek of my Design Team card.

As you can see I was having fun with the Hardwood stamp.  The background was created by inking Whisper White craft ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. The heart in the center was inked with 3 different markers.

My favorite thing about this card is how the stamping and inking of the Essentials Wooden elements.  I used brown Staz-On for the sentiment and the little hearts were inked with Copic markers.

As if the card didn't have enough texture and dimension, I added an embossed banner and Chevron ribbon.

Is it ok to say I love this card? Perhaps even more than my first card, although I love that card too.

Creative Blessings,
Heather North

Thinking of You

Quick, clean and simple card today.   Simply select a few scraps of your favorite patterned paper and punch out your butterflies.  Layer them on a piece of whisper white cardstock, layer that on another piece of patterned paper and layer the entire thing to your notecard.

It doesn't have to be hard to make a card.  Even non-stampers could make this card.  Use a sticker in the place of the sentiment or even write the sentiment yourself.

You know me.  I can't just leave the white space alone.  :)  So, I added a few score lines to the top of my card.

I also added a few pearls to each butterfly.  If you don't have a butterfly punch, consider using hearts, balloons, flowers, etc.  This is a great way to use up those scraps of your favorite papers.  A little goes a long way.

Heather North

Masked Love

Yesterday I showed you how I used the tag from the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  On today's card I used that same tag as a mask.  I simply layered the tag onto a piece of cardstock and then sprayed smooch spritz all over it.  When I lifted up the tag I had this lovely "white" tag left behind.

From there I added the EnFrancais background stamp and layered my Crumb Cake strip.

The Love sentiment comes from You Are Loved stamp set.  I gold embossed it, then used my oval punch to punch out the sentiment and the Decorative Label punch to punch out the background.   In the picture below you can see I have ribbon running between the two layers and the oval is popped up using dimensionals.

This would make a nice Anniversary card, or give it to anyone you love.  It's going in my stash, and the next wedding, bridal shower, or anniversary party we go to I will have a card already made.  Or, I can just save it for my honey and give it to him.  It's not too girly to give to the man I love.

Last night I filmed a video showing you how to make this card front.  It's not complicated, but there are several steps.  It's funny to me how a fairly "Clean and Simple" card can be "not so simple" to make.  (especially when you decide to start filming at 11pm at night.)

Sweet Friend

Don't you love when you can use a stamp set beyond one purpose/season/occasion?  I do.  I like getting more bang for my buck.  This stamp set and framelit could be used for Valentines or a wedding, but I think it is also a sweet thing to send to a friend, don't you?

The main heart is stamped using Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Rose Red markers.  The background heart is just Rose Red ink on Rose Red cardstock.

The textured piece is Very Vanilla run through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, then lightly sponged with crumb cake ink.  I used Tombow Mono Multi glue to adhere the embossed piece onto my crumb cake piece.  I'm finding that the Tombow glue really sticks well when you have texture like this.

This was sent to a friend in need of some cheer. She has inspired me with her creativity, and I hope my card warms her heart. <3

Heather North
