Color Burst Trial ~ SC121 ~ Video

Stampin' Celebration is back with a new sketch challenge!  I went with a winter theme on this one, in part because the news on the west coast was all about the winter blizzard hitting the east coast.  Praying all my friends on the other side of our country are safe and warm.

This week's sketch is super quick to put together.  Punch or die cut your favorite shape and group them in the corner.  You could use solid colored cardstock, patterned paper, stamped images or make you own custom pattern like I did.  Rotate the sketch or flip it for more possibilities.

Last week was quiet on my blog because I was preparing for the new Stamp of Approval release, as well as the stencil class at StampNation.  I had the video set up and I was playing with my new camera.  That means I have videos to share again!  Woot-Woot!  This card was originally going to be for the SOA release week, but the background did not turn out the way I envisioned it.  Luckily I was able to re-purpose it into this card and another card I will share later.   Plus, I caught it on tape, so I have video for you.

June 1st also means it is time for a new challenge at Stampin' Celebration.  This week we are taking you on vacation.  :)  Boy, could I use a few hours on the beach.  Use the inspiration photo below to make a tag, card, or scrapbook layout.

Then, be sure to enter it in the challenge at Stampin' Celebration for your chance to win bragging rights.  ;)   Here is what I created using this bright colorful inspiration photo.

It was so easy to make.   First, I stamped the sentiment onto pattern paper, then I die cut them out with the On Film Framelits using my Big Shot.  You can see right where your framelits will cut, making it easy to fit your sentiment inside.

To add just a touch of dimension I chose a few of the arrows and popped them up on dimensionals.  It's hard to see in the picture, but it made a huge difference in person.   Be sure to head over to Stampin' Celebration and see what the rest of the design team has come up with to inspire you.

World Card Making Day ~ Kit 3 ~ Happy Together

Today I will be sharing with you the 3rd kit in my World Card Making Day kit giveaway.  If you missed the other posts, just scroll down to see them or CLICKY to go to the prize page.  :)

It's a Happy Together sort of day today and another CAS style of card.   This card was made with Operation Write Home in mind.  I wanted to make a card that our heroes could send to a child, so I went bright and colorful for this one.

Any child would be happy to get this card, don't you think?  As with all the other card kits I made a video so you can put this card together.

***Note: If you are reading this post in an email or reader you may need to go to my blog to see the video below.

There are two things I love about this card.  First are the teeny tiny baker's twine bows at each end of the banner.

And, the second thing is how perfectly the Happy Together banner sits on the pennant diamond I created.  Such a happy accident.

On Thursday I will be sharing a bonus video with 2 more ideas for using the same basic supplies with one or two things added to make a totally different card.  Come back tomorrow for the 4th card in my WCMD Card Kit Giveaway series.  You won't want to miss this beauty!

Heather North

Hello Summer

Doesn't this card scream summer to you?  It does for me.  I used a retired Stampin' UP! kit that came with paper and stickers in these bright, fun colors.  Then I added some new white candy dots to the center of each flower.

Originally I was going to make the card horizontal, but when I stood it up on my desk I thought it was super cute going vertical with the flowers on the left side.  What do you think?

Both directions work great.  In fact I have flipped this sketch 4 ways and have loved every one of them.  In fact, I have already used this sketch on 5 different cards!  I am keeping this design in my arsenal.  This fantastic sketch was made Maureen Merrit  for a StampNation challenge and was based on a card by Kristie Goulet.

SN Sketch
If you've never been to these ladies blogs, you really should.  Both of them are on the design team and I am honored to be among them.  Mo is the queen of Clean and Simple (CAS) cards.  I have learned so much from her and love her style, even though I am more of a "layer it on" type of girl.  If you see me make a CAS card chances are she has inspired me in some way.

Kristie has also mastered CAS cardmaking, but she likes to mix it up and experiment with different styles and trends.  She's also one of the kindest ladies you could ever hope to meet online.  I just love her fresh card making style and designs.

Do you see how the aritsan label is sticking up just a bit?  I did that by scoring it and folding it.  This week has been crazy busy so I didn't get time to film a video.  Perhaps I will use this technique on another card soon and film that video for you.

Masculine Monday ~ In My Thoughts

Last week I posted a Hexagon card and video.  After I was finished filming the video I had all these punched out hexagons on my table, so I decided to make a second card.  This time I used Crumb Cake for the cardstock, but the background stamping is the same as it was in the video.

I used the same sketch to design both cards from a new-to-me challenge site called CAS(E) this Sketch.  Even though I used hexagons for both my cards I this design would be cute with many different shapes.  Grab your punches and give it a try.  ;)

CTS

To jazz this card up a bit I added some Baker's Twine I got from Cindy's Simple Stuff during her going out of business, but not really, sale.  :)  Sorry I don't know who makes it, but I loved that it was a mixture of colors instead of just one or two.

Other than the twine the cards are really similar.  I changed the background color and the sentiment too, just to show you (and myself) the versatility of this sketch. You can check out the video below if you missed it last week or you can click HERE to go to that blog post, see the other cards and watch the video.
