Scrapbooking is another story though. I've been "collecting" for MANY years. Okay, my husband would say "hoarding". That is why you will see products used in my scrapbooks that are not SU. I am trying to use up what I have. When I use a SU product I try to let you know what it is. Mostly I share my layouts for my friends and familiy to see, and hopefully inspire you to pull out your pictures and preserve them in whatever way works best for you.
As you'll see, I am currently working on Fall 2009. We took a trip to Mt. St. Helens. I don't have the SU leaf die cut, so I used some paper leaves I had. Wouldn't that die cut be perfect for a page like this though? You could run your paper through to cut out the leaves, then put them in the woodgrain embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot again to give them texture? I think I just found another reason to get that die. ;)

One thing I did in an unusual way for a Fall layout, was the Blossom Punch. I used it as a background layer for my lacy leaf. To add even more interest an avoid covering up too much of my photos, I cut off part of the blossom. Cutting it off also made it look a little less like a flower.

I came from Catherine's site and really love your scrapbook layouts. I keep saying I need to get back to scrapbooking and yet the card making has taken over. Your pages have inspired me, sometimes you don't know how to even begin and the whammo someone's page really gets you between the eyes. I really must take this as a big nudge, cuz your style is a style I can dig! Loved your article. I just may decide to join SN again, stopped in order to do something else which I have not even done and I miss SN a bunch.
Glad I inspired you, Kay. Thanks for letting me know. Sometimes I feel silly posting my layouts because they are so simple, but then I think perhaps it will inspire somebody else to "just do it". Hope to see you at SN again soon. <3
Love your pages Heather. The leaves you used are great. I love the checked edges too!
