Scrapbook Sunday ~ Cannon Beach

I was hoping to share more pages with you of our trip to Cannon Beach, but I have been struggling with these two digital pages for several days now.  At this point I figure I better share what I have.  :)  If I get more done later tonight I may update my blog post.  If not then I can always share them next week.

Once again the sketch I used was from the weekend warriors class I took last weekend at Inspired to Scrap.  It's a great sketch to work with.  My problems came from my laptop.  I think I will try this sketch again using "real" papers and photos and see what I can come up with.

Sunday Share ~ Manager's Reception

Almost every year my husband's company puts on a Manager's Meeting and Reception for it's management group and their spouses.  There are about 200 people at this event.  This year there was a theme "60's Glamour".  At first I was stumped.  When I think of the 60's I think of hippies, not glamour, but thanks to a few friends and Google I was able to find a look I could get on board with.  60's glamour is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's or Jacqueline Kennedy as the first lady.  It's pearls and gloves and style.

I'm not 100% sure I pulled off the look, but I gave it a try.

Both of these pages were inspired by a Weekend Warrior class I am taking this weekend over at Inspired to Scrap.  I think their sketches worked perfectly, don't you?

In case you were wondering what was in that little blue box, I made a page for it too.  :)

Next week I will show you a picture of me wearing this lovely necklace.   Hopefully I will be able to finish my weekend warrior class and have more layouts to show you.  :)  It's fun to be scrapbooking again, even if it is on the computer.   The best part of digital scrapbooking is that I was able to work on it and be in the same room as my family while they were watching Lord of the Rings.

***Special thank you to all my friends who helped me pull my outfit together.   You sistah's rock!

Scrapbook Sunday ~ Digital

My layout today is a digital one using 2 different challenges.  The first challenge was a sketch challenge from the recent Weekend Warriors class at Inspired to Scrap.  The second was StampNation's challenge to use pinwheels on your layout.

After much searching and downloading, I wasn't able to find any pinwheels I could use on my layout, so I improvised.  If you are trying out challenges, don't let obstacles stand in your way. Sometimes you have think outside the box, but you might just love what you come up with.

Scrapbook Sunday

Last week was the online Fall Crop at Inspired to Scrap.  This is the first page I made for that challenge.  Mostly I was trying to feel my way through the MDS2 program.  Sometimes the best way to figure something out is just to plunge in.  :)

Scrapbook Sunday

Here's another page from our trip to Oregon in 2009.  I actually used (mostly) Stampin' UP! products for this 2 page spread.  I think the only thing that isn't SU is the sparkly black pen I used for dash lines.

On the LHS (left hand side) I have pictures from the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  :)

The RHS (right hand side) has pictures from Cannon Beach.  I used my Cricut to cut out the letters.

To tie the two pages together I used the same papers.  I used the red sparingly on the RHS, using the scalloped ribbon border punch.
It is amazing to me how much our boys have grown and changed in the past 3 years.  That is why I think I will always cherish scrapbooking...I love the memories I get to relive each time I create or look at one of my scrapbooks.

I also managed to do a digital page last week.  It was a super easy one.  I basically just dropped in a picture into one of the templates that was on the MDS+2 program, added some text and a few swirly stamps.  :)  Easy is good!

MDS Color Challenge

It's back to school week here, and it seems fitting that I am taking a class too.  Today's card is my first MDS project that I made from start to finish without using a template.  The class I am taking put out a color challenge, so I decided it was a good time to try making something on my own.  I can obviously still use some work, but here is what I came up with.

If you would like to participate in this challenge, make a project using the following colors.  It doesn't have to be digital.  I'm just trying to learn My Digital Studio, and the easiest way for my to do that is just to play with it.  ;)   In fact I just made the tag below to show you the colors.  This is fun!

MDS Monday

I've been playing around with MyDigitalStudio2 (MDS2).  It's Stampin' UP!'s digital creator software.   Because the program is new to me and I don't have a local demonstrator to help me, I signed up for an MDS2 online class.  :)  Hopefully I will become knowledgeable enough to help my customers if I ever have any that want to do digital scrapbooking.  ;)

I won't be giving up traditional scrapbooking any time soon, but you might see a few digital layouts from time to time.  Plus, I have already used it to create (and print) my own stationary.   Did you know you can print from your own home printer, send it out to be printed or have SU print & ship to you?  Here is a journal I just created using MDS2+ yesterday morning.

Back Cover

Basically I took the template that SU had in their program and changed colors, papers, embellishments, etc.  I loved the swirls and overlays, and the butterflies so I kept those.  Here is what the original cover looks like.

How fun is that?!!!  The original journal is already in the MDS2+ program.  I see so many possibilities with this program.

Scrapbook Sunday

I miss scrapbooking.  My scrapbooking stuff has been collecting dust most of the summer.  I'm currently working on July 2009 in our family album.  Yesterday the entire family was in the hobby room, and I got a chance to work on pictures of the Tillamook Air Museum.  I love working on those types of pages when the boys are around because they get excited about what I am doing.  Hopefully I will get some time to finish that layout this afternoon, so I can share it with you guys next week.  I find that once I jump in with scrapbooking I can usually get on a roll.

Today though, I thought I would share with you my first MDS2 page.  My Digital Studio 2 (MDS2) is Stampin' UP!'s digital creation software.  I purchased the kit that comes with an extra $500 worth of digital "stuff".  This page was made this morning, start to finish, using one of the predesigned pages in the kit, as well as some stamp images from Daring Adventure.  (also in the kit)  It was quick and fairly easy to do.  I still have a long way to go before I master digital, but at least I was able to create something with pictures I took last weekend.  I think I'm going to go back and add one more set of footprints going off the page.  I thought that area would be cut off.  :)

I'm currently watching the videos that SU has put out teaching us all how to use their digital software.  If you are interested here is the link.  http://mydigitalstudio.net/page/beginner-techniques

You can try out the software yourself for FREE with a 30 day free trail.  If you do, let me know, and we can learn together.  :)

I chose MDS2+

There is also an MDS2 (cheaper with less extras) a Free MDS2 Trial (if you've never tried out MDS2 and want to try before you buy), an MDS2 upgrade (if you already own MDS) and MDS2+(this is what I chose because I thought it would be easier to start if I had some options of things to "play" with.)
