Masculine Monday with Hexagons

My son is working on his senior project for school and needed some thank you cards to send out.  Mom to the rescue.  :)

I pulled out my Six-Sided Sampler set along with the matching hexagon punch and baker's twine.

To layer the hexagons, I cut out the stamped hexagon with "thanks much" stamped in the center.  It was pretty easy cut along those lines.

Above is the second card I made.  It was even easier than the first one.  I used some retired nautical paper and then used my new Four You stamp set to stamp the Thank You sentiment.  Next I layered it all on a piece of navy cardstock to anchor the card front.

Even though I am calling this "Masculine Monday", these cards can be sent to/from anyone.  I need to whip up a few more to send to OWH.  :)

Hello Cupcake

It's Thursday, so it's time for another Design Team challenge card.  This one is just yummy.

All month long at StampNation we are having photo inspiration challenges.  Here is the photo that inspired my card.  These cupcakes are almost too pretty to eat.

I decided to make my own cupcakes with plenty of texture.  First I punched out some scallop circle with Pistachio Pudding cardstock.  I ran these through the Square Lattice embossing folder, and layered them onto cardstock.  (Concord Crush-retired and Strawberry Slush)  From there I added some blossoms from the Boho Blossoms punch and the small scallop circle from Bitty Punch Pack.

For the pink cupcake I layered several Pink Pirouette scallop circles in various sizes.  First I sponged the edges of each scallop with Strawberry Slush ink, then I wadded them each up into little balls so the circles would have some dimension and texture.  Next I placed a small Strawberry Slush scallop circle in the center.  Each flower is finished with a Basic Pearl.

The Hello tag uses shadow stamping.   Basically I stamped "hello" from the Four You stamp set in Basic Grey then stamped it again using Smoky Slate.  The second time I stamped a little lower and to the right.  It's a fun easy technique to do.

The final touches are a couple of butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffled Ribbon under the banner.   I would love to see how this picture inspires you.

Hexagon Hello

Here is another hexagon card for you.  This time I just used the punch without the coordinating stamp set.  It's almost a one layer card, but not quite.  It is still pretty Clean And Simple (CAS) for me though.

My inspiration came from a site I found on accident while cruising through some new-to-me stamping blogs.  Isn't it great when you find a new site(s) to love?  The site is called CAS(E) this Sketch.   Thank you CTS for a great sketch.  I look forward to joining you often!

To add the look of dimension without adding extra layers I stamped some "splatter" from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and stamped the greeting in both black and gray.

While making this card I made a video for you.  This is a great video if you are a beginner card maker and want some tips on how to recreate this card.

***Note- If you are reading the post in an email or reader, you may need to go to my blog to see the video below.  Simply click on the post title "Hexagon Hello" and it should take you to this post.  :)

After I turned off the camera I made a second card using the leftover hexagons and Crumb Cake ink/cardstock.  Come back next week to see close-ups of that card.  (there is a sneak peek in the video above)
