Day 12 of 100 Days of Creativity ~ Crochet

Taking a bit of a lane swerve for this blog and sharing another creative avenue I have been pursuing lately.  It all started when I saw a beautiful lilac crochet cardigan on Facebook.  I clicked on the link and saw it was only $22 and was ready to hit the buy now button when I realized the cost wasn't for the sweater, but for the supplies.

Like anyone who cannot create does, I went on Facebook and asked my friends if any of them could crochet this sweater for me.  Nobody said they could (or would).  A few knew people who could, but that wasn't much help.  So, I decided to youtube crocheting.  I know how to single crochet a chain and then double crochet, but that was the extent of my knowledge.  Even then, I didn't know what those stitches were called.  Are they even called stitches?  Anyway, this led me to the granny square, and I thought it was as good a place as any to start.

Not sure what this will become.  I'm thinking a doll blanket for my niece, but it is fun to see how quickly this thing grows.

Day 11 of 100 Days of Creativity- Happy Camper Part 2

Are you ready for the final 2 cards in my happy camper painting session?  Yesterday I showed you the 2 aqua campers turned into cards and today I'm sharing the blue campers.  Mom's favorite color is Navy, so I definitely had her in mind while making these.

I added wood panel paper for a "woodsy" feel to these cards.

The postage stamp dies from Catherine Pooler make this card super cute!  Especially since I am hoping mom will mail them while camping after retirement.

One of the things I love about this small stamp set is the sentiments that go along with the adorable camper.

Day 10 of 100 Days of Creativity ~ Happy Camper part 1

July is World Watercolor Month, so I wanted to share with you some cards I made using watercolor left over on my paint palette, as well as some waterbrush markers to color in stamped images.  I made this set to give to my mom who is retiring soon and planning to spend the rest of her summer and fall camping as much as she can.  I thought it would be fun if she could send cards from her camper.

Do you remember where I started with these campers? Here is how I turned 2 of them into cards.

I used paint that was left on my palette to color one of the campers and my Zigs to color the other.

To finish off the first card I die cut the camper with a cross stitch square die and then matched patterned paper to die cut the layer behind, the tags and the sentiment label.

For the second card I used color cardstock as the base and used a stitch background die to add details.  The camper square die cut is layered and popped up on foam tape to make it stand out.  I left this card blank so it could be used for many occasions.
