Foundations Box is Live

Today is the day that Catherine Pooler's new Foundations Box goes on sale.  Can I get a woot-woot!  You can pick up your box right now here.  But, you might want to pick up a box for someone on your Christmas list that wants to get started in stamping.  Wouldn't it be fun to share this with them on Christmas morning?  There's even a little gift tucked inside each box.  Check out the video below to learn more.

You can read Catherine's blog post and see more pictures here.  Just a little note about these bracelets.  While I was at the StampNation Dream Team retreat Kristie and I, along with other members of Catherine's team, tied a bow around each of these little bracelets for you.  <3  It was a labor of love to gift these to you.  You make a difference in the lives of your loved ones every time you send or give a handmade card.  Enjoy this special gift from Catherine as an acknowledgement for all you do for your friends and family.

Back to Fun-Damentals

We are going back to basics this week for the new Catherine Pooler Designs, Foundations release.  This box is perfect for any stamper, but especially for brand new stampers, because it includes everything you need to get started.  Stamps for just about every occasion that can be mixed and matched with ease, plus high quality bright white (pre-scored) paper, an innovative round clear block design with finger grips and INK!  Yes, you read that right, Catherine has come out with her own line of ink, and you know this is going to be perfection!

When I sat down to create the required 3 cards I overshot my mark and created 9+ the first day.  Usually I struggle with one layer cards and clean & simple design, but not this time.  The ideas were flowing and I felt like I only scratched the surface of the potential of this collection.

Catherine asked us to make a couple of one layer cards and then 1 card that was stepped up just a little.  Here is my stepped up version of the card above.

Video below shows how I made my first 2 cards.

Later this week I will have a video for my 3rd card. (I'm shooting for Friday, if you want to come back here.)  I thought this one was super fun.  When Catherine was asking me what I wanted in a little set I said, an envelope with a heart on it or a heart option.  She delivered!

Sew Saturday ~ Seriously

Hello quilting friends, it has been a loooooooong time since I shared what's been going on in my stamp room.  Like, seriously, a long time.  I went back to look at the last thing I had shared with you and it was from May!  What?!  In the summer I don't sew as much and my Fall has been slammed with travel, family "stuff" and work, but I had no idea that it has been almost 6 months since I posted a Sew Saturday.  Time to get caught up here on the blog.  I'll go back to May and share what was going on in my stamp room.

Here was my design wall.  On the far left is my son Michael's quilt.  It hasn't gotten very far.  :( Beside those is a small 4 patch I'll be sharing next week.  ;)  After that is a batch of blocks I got at a recent charity sew-in for our guild.  Someone donated the blocks and I took them to try and make a quilt out of it to donate through our guild.  Finally, on the far right, is the Christmas quilt I started a couple of Christmases ago.  It has been sloooooooow progress on this quilt, but I am in the final stretch.  Of course that means I have all the difficult blocks left to do.  LOL

On to Grandma's quilt.  After visiting her in March and showing her the completed top I came home to quilt the top.

I quilted around each of the petals, and stopped to decide I wanted to fill in with another pattern, a repeating pattern of the petals, or leave it as it is and work on the border.

Just in case you missed my previous post, here is grandma with her quilt top.  I wanted to be sure it was long enough to cover her.  Grandma lives 650 miles away from me, so I wasn't sure if I would need to send the quilt or be able to hand deliver it.  It was wonderful to see her reaction.  She didn't want me to take it back with me, but I finally convinced her I would make it warmer for her and bring it back.  :)

Happy Birthday Beautiful

This card is similar to the card I shared earlier this week.  In fact, I made them at the same time. ;)

The background was created with Zig Real Brush markers and a few spritz of water, but I only embossed one flourish for this card and added a die cut sentiment.  To give the sentiment dimension, yet not too much, I layered 2 die cuts on top of each other.

Stamps: Beautiful World (Gina K Designs)
Ink: 021, 025, 026, 050, 052 (Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers) Versamark
Paper: Black  (SU) Bristol (Strathmore)
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder (SU) Blueprints 20 (My Favorite Things)
