Calling All Sistahs Reminder

It's the 17th of the month and that means it is time for the Encouragement Squad to remind you to check yourself and get those mammograms scheduled.  We did this by creating pretty cards to share with you.  Here is mine for September.

The interlocking stamp I used is retiring and at a VERY special discounted price right now.  It's perfect for adding a little (or a lot) of detail to your project.  For the ribbon, I first sponged in pinks and the stamped in black before die cutting.  To help it stand out from the background I layered it, slightly offset, with black cardstock die cuts.

Take the time today to take care of your breast health and then see what the rest of the Encouragement Squad has created at Calling All Sistahs.  BONUS: today I am sharing my "why" on the Calling All Sistahs blog.  You can read more about what motivates me to be a part of this important movement to remind and encourage our sistahs.

Before I go, I want to share a special fundraising event going on next weekend to raise money for breast cancer awareness, treatment and RESEARCH.  Our goal is find a cure for breast cancer!  My friend, Dr. Thomas Duncan, decided one day to offer rides around the track in his race car in exchange for a donation to the American Cancer Society.  In 2 weeks time he raised $1700.  He wondered what he could do with more time, so he put together a 2 day event, and set to work to raise even more funds and gather sponsors.  In 5 months we have already raised over $14,000 and the main event hasn't even taken place yet!

The event takes place next weekend, September 21st and 22nd, at the Ridge Motorsports complex in Shelton, WA, but you don't have to be local to donate.  Every dollar we collect goes directly to American Cancer Society.  You can make a donation in memory of someone else or to honor someone you know with cancer, or you can even make an anonymous donation.

To make a donation on my team page: clicky

Together we can make a difference.  Together we can help those fighting.  Together we can find a cure!
