Black & White CAS17

One of the most striking color combinations can be black and white with shades of gray.  These types of card tend to turn out either elegant or masculine when I am creating them.  I also enjoy adding just a splash of color, but for today's card I stuck to the challenge colors.

CAS17

For my card I started by "painting" the background with gray ink and white shimmer paint.  I then dried it before stamping the full on floral on the background.  First I inked the sentiment in Basic Grey ink, but it wasn't dark enough so I switched to black.  This is where the MISTI comes in super handy!

The finishing touches were to cut my panel down 1/8", add a 1/4" sliver of dark silvery glitter cardstock and mount it on a gray card base.  Simple, yet impactful.   You probably can't see the shimmer in the picture, but when you turn the card in the light it picks up the sparkle from the little bit of paint I used.

Now, please head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to check out what the incredibly talented Encouragement Squad has created to inspire you.  Then be sure to add your card to linky party for a chance to win a $25 gift code to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps store!

July Reminder Post

It's the 17th of the month and you know what that means?  The encouragement squad is here again to give you some lovely reminders to do your self breast exams and schedule those yearly mammograms.  Here is my card for you.

To create my card I masked off the bottom of my card with post it tape and sponged the top in light pink, then brought in a darker shade of pink around the edges.  Next I stamped out hope in black and masked it off before stamping full on floral in versamark and heat embossing in white.  To make the hope sentiment stand out even more I watercolored the flowers.  To finish off the card I added a strip of glittery white cardstock and a white on black sentiment with a couple of flowers.

Now let's head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to see what the rest of the Encouragement Squad has created.  Clicky

Encouraging News

I don't know about you, but I could sure use some encouragement.  It's been a rough 7 or 8 months for our family.  I've lost a great aunt, a great uncle, an uncle, an aunt, and last week, my grandma.  There are days it is hard to pull back the covers, but I am still alive and I am still blessed in so many ways.  Several of my cardmaking friends have been sending me notes of encouragement, and let me tell you, it does make a difference!

Today I get to announce my changing role with Calling All Sistahs.  As you know, I have been the blog hop coordinator for the Calling All Sistahs reminder posts for the past year.  On the 17th of each month we have done a blog hop to remind you to do your breast self-exams and schedule your yearly mammograms.  We wanted to include more people, so Michele (of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps) came up with a brilliant plan....

A new ENCOURAGEMENT BLOG!!!!

On the 17th of the month we will still be doing a reminder post.  We don't want any of our sistahs to forget to check themselves.  Instead of a blog hop, we have a design team and all the cards will be together on the blog.

Then, on the 18th of the month we will have a challenge and EVERYONE is invited to join and link up.  Even if you don't have a blog you will be able to link using linky tools.  :)  More on that to come later.

Today we kick off announcements with "me".  Michele asked me if I would coordinate this new blog.  Of course I said YES.  Who can say no to Michele? Who would even want to?  To kick things off, I made this card and video.

Stamps: Full On Floral, Peace Out, Special Delivery (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps)
Ink: 004, 036, 042, 026, 027, 080, 081, 082, 083, 202 (Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers) Aquatini, Midnight, Pixie Dust (Catherine Pooler Designs) Razzle Berry (My Favorite Things Hybrid) Versamark
Paper: Bristol Cardstock (Ellen Hutson)
Accessories: #2 Round Brush (Silver) Black Baker's Twine (Stampin' Up) Bubble Box Fri-Dies (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps) Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder (WOW) Sistahood Sparkle Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)

Technically, I made this card below, and then realized the stamp set I used was discontinued a year ago.  Stamp still works, but I didn't want to share a card none of you could make.  I was so proud of myself for having a Mother's Day card done early too.

Addition Supplies:
Stamps: Mums the Word (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps)
Ink: Mint to Be, Party Dress (Catherine Pooler Designs)

Please go over to the new blog and leave me some love over there to let Michele know she chose wisely.  LOL
