Celebrate World Card Making Day with the StampNation Design Team

We are taking a trip around the world at StampNation and to kick things off we are having a World Card Making Day Design Team Blog Hop.    Come along for the journey and get a taste of some of the countries represented as we stamp around the world.

Each DT member picked their favorite photo inspiration and card to post on their blog.

Here's mine...

And here is the card I was inspired to make.

Would you believe that I used a blender pen to color this card?  I love Copics, but only have a few.  It's great that I can get a similar look using a blender pen and my markers.

The fun continues...see we are asking you to guess the country the photo comes from, then to leave a comment telling what country you think I've chosen.

One lucky commenter from each blog will win a 3 month subscription to StampNation

PLUS, I will be choosing a winner from my blog to receive a card kit for some of my WCMD cards.  There will be videos for these cards kits too.  Click HERE to go to the blog post with more details.

Then, one Grand Prize Winner will win a 3 month subscription as well as all of the cards Catherine made for the event!

Remember to hop along to each DT member leaving comments along the way to increase your chance of winning!!!

Catherine Pooler

Maureen Merritt

Kristie Goulet

Heather North (that's me!)

Shea Marshall

Monica Weaver (Guest Designer)

Have fun!
*Please Note: To be eligible to win the Grand Prize, you must comment on all Design Team blogs. You do not have to answer the question correctly to be eligible to win. Comments will close on Thursday, October 10th at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Design Team will announce winners on StampNation and their personal blogs on Friday, October 11th.

I would guess the country is France or western Europe. Your poppies on the card are beautiful.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy - its Australia - for ANZAC day. Which as a New Zealander will claim as totally mine (like the Aussies try to claim the Pav and Crowded House)

Love your card Heather :)

BEAUTIFUL job on interpreting the inspiration photo, Heather! And your coloring is top notch! Happy WCMD!

I love the way you interpreted the picture. Your card is lovely!

Love the poppies and the card.

You guys certainly did not make this process of picking countries an easy one. Poppies could be associated with ANY country: they're abundant all around the Mediterannean basin. But that (?) on the hat(?) looks like it has Mayan or Inca origins.

Costa Rica. I am not very good with geography. Love the simplicity of the card

Gorgeous coloring -- love the embossing as well! The hat in the photo gives it away -- it's Australia! And what I wouldn't give to have a vacation there! :)

I'm going with Austrailia. Using a blender pen is such a GREAT idea when you don't have a lot of copic markers! You did a beautiful job with the colors!!!

Absolutely love these poppies. I lived in Turkey for 2 years and the hills would be covered.

Heather....your card is beautiful! Don't you just love WCMD??? I do!

Such a pretty card!! The hat is Australian, the poppies are often associated with war graves in Flanders, Belgium, and the poem "In Flanders Fields" was written by a Canadian. You've packed a lot of countries into one meaningful photo!! --Doris

Beautiful poppies - both the card & the photo. My first guess was France, but the hat is definitely not French.

auds71 said...

im guessing Australia and luv your interpretation of the poppies stunning card xx

Tracy said...

Australia...love the poppies and the coloring on the card!

CreativSpirit said...

Beautiful card, I love poppies. The country is possibly Australia where we use the red poppies as a remembrance on Anzac day, but the reason we do that is because of the poppies that grew on the battlefields of Flanders Fields in France and Belguim?

Anonymous said...

Your card is stunning in its simplicity. Australia is the country.

CreativSpirit said...

Absolutely gorgeous card. I am going to say Australia because poppies are a symbol of the Anzacs, but the reason for our use of the Poppies is because of Flanders Field in France where many battles were fought?

loceanjo said...

I think the country is the Netherlands or Belgium.

MelissaF said...

I love the polka dot background and the flowers spilling over the border, a very elegant card. I think the photo is from Holland.

Rufus said...

Poppies make me think of Veteran's not necessarily any particular county so I'm not even going to try to guess...but the card is lovely and amazing that you could get so much depth and shading only using markers and a blending pen! Lovely!

This is defniitely Australia. Your poppy is gorgeous. Love, love, love this.

Jennifer Blomquist said...

Gorgeous card! I love your coloring. I have no idea on the country...the US? :)

Nancy H said...

The poppies could be from so many places, but the hat looks like New Zealand. Love the card also!

Debbie Lamb said...

I love your card - the colouring is faultless! The poppies represent ANZAC Day which is celebrated in Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand has already been represented so I'm guessing it's Australia. However, the battle of Gallipoli was in Turkey so it could also be Turkey?
