The name of this quilt comes from the disappearing 4 patch I used around the outer edges, and the fact that I made this for my son who is a senior in high school. He chose the main fabrics. It's not
the primary colored trains, planes and cars. My first thought was to name the quilt disappearing son, but the more I thought about it the less I liked it. My son is not disappearing, he's just growing and changing and becoming a man. He'll soon leave the house, but he'll always be my son, so I changed it to Disappearing Youth to symbolize him transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
Actually I would like this loads better if the center was bigger, but it was a good place to start quilting again. Best of all it is done with a few days to spare for A Lovely Year of Finishes.

Now it's time for me decide what my November finish will be. Should I attempt to go back to my Star Shadow quilt or start on my other son's quilt? I think I'll work on my guild blocks in the meantime if the dizziness goes away again.
Tyler is on the left and Michael's shoes are peeking out on the right side.

P.S. Proud mama brag here. I've got to share a picture of our son Michael getting ready for his concert last week. That is one handsome young man we have there. He did great!
